I thought it would be fun to take a video of Gizmo walking so everyone could see his funny gait. It was really windy, so I cut out the sound and added music. He loves his walks and listens very well to the commands I give him. Hope you enjoy it.

Jo that's all that matters. He is a precious boy! His limp makes him unique and gives even more character.

Grace:  He is a very happy "little" guy.  (He will always be our little guy.  LOL)  His tail really makes him unique.  He's such a cutie.

Laurie:  His gait is because of his limp.  When he broke his leg, he broke it right at the growth plate, which is by his knee.  He was almost fully grown, so it shouldn't affect it much, but he  will always limp because of it.  The hip is malformed and that is why it looks like that.  I'm not sure if it happened when he broke his knee, or if it is a result of dysplasia.  When he broke it, it was about 2 days before he could have surgery....  Doc had to wait to operate because 1) there was a lot of swelling and 2) Doc fell down his steps and reinjured his knee (he had been kicked in the knee by a horse many years ago) and couldn't stand long enough to do the surgery for a couple days.  Doc fell the same day Gizmo broke his leg.  When Gizmo broke his leg, he held it out at a funny angle, so I'm thinking it happened then.  Whatever happened, it is what it is now.  The X-rays show the ball is not round and it is not setting in the socket correctly.  Surgery can't fix it and even if it could, I couldn't afford to have it done.

So, we deal with it as best we can now.  Gizmo is pretty happy all-in-all.  We were never going to compete and he's neutered so we weren't planning on breeding.  He's just our loving Doodledog.

He does have a strange gait Jo! Have they done another x-ray on that leg? It almost looks like it is not set right.

He does look like a happy boy though and he listens to you so well. Good job

Love the video Jo.   He looks so happy!    I still love his tail!  I still can't believe that this is the little devil you had when he was a pup!  Time, patience and love.  You did a great job Jo.  How's Terry doing?

nice...  allowing him to move at his own pace is a thumbs up.  Also want to add thumbs up to you the confident, clam training.
