We feed Nutra Max at the recommendation of our vet. My Great Dane made it to 11 years old on it!

We have a 6.5 month old goldendoodle - Murphy - and we had quite a few problems with allergies this past summer. Lots of scratching and chewing. We were unsure if it was food or seasonal so we have switched his food just in case. I'm totally onboard with the "no grain" approach and Murphy is now on Acana Pacifica. It's packed with all sorts of goodies and Murphy seems to really like it. The only downfall is that it's pretty stinky but the protein is fish, so I was expecting it to smell like fish. Acana also has 2 other types of the no grain kind. Check out this dog food review site - I also highly reccomend dried liver bites as treats. It's 100% dried liver, you can buy it anywhere, and Murphy will do absolutely anything for it. It is a great training/reward treat.

I am a life-long animal owner and lover and into natural health and holistics for myself. In our town we have a GREAT store that carries a lot of different natural and organic brands that don't have the normal allergens such as wheat, corn, soy, "meals" (chicken meal, etc). My Dood didn't like the foods from the box stores such as Wellness or the Dick Van Patten Natural Balance foods and we finally found one that's a winner! It's called MERRICK and the first ingredient is organic chicken! Wow. He REALLY loves it, even more than his treats! Stools are shaped and slightly soft, yet semi-firm. He loves the Puppy Plate dry and Puppy Plate Wet mixed... I can't recommend it enough! Plus the bonus? It's not as expensive as you'd think AND it can be bought on Amazon!
Not that the other foods listed are bad, it's just each pooch has their own tastes just like us humans do! Figured I'd put it out there as an alternative in case anyone is interested...

Also, I'm having a problem finding treats that my 3 month old likes. I've bought bags upon bags and he's SO picky! Doesn't like the Natural Balance pup treats, the soft square ones OR the L.I.T. small hard ones either. The only ones he likes is from the Vet and the ingredients are AWFUL! Wheat everywhere plus car fluid! Oh man. But they are the ONLY ones he seems to like and that was a fluke b/c the vet gave them to him during a visit. Butler "Lean Treats" is the name of the treats. The ingredients are JUST AWFUL!! Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, Wheat four, BHA....ick! Any advice on healthy treats for a picky pup?

My previous dog, Annie, died in August of an apparent heart attack. She gave 4 loud yelps and died instantly. She had been very healthy and had no known issues. I had switched her to raw organic food a year ago. I often wonder if this sped up her death? I just don't know. Now I have a golden doodle and give him the medi cal. It's such a dilemma with animals and the best food.

I use Wellness for large breed puppies. I have read a lot about dog food and believe it or not Bil-Jac was one that was cautioned to stay away from due to the high empty calories and little nutritional value. This surprised me since many years ago we used to feed that to our schnauzer!

My 6 month old boy has had trouble with diarrhea. We have had all the tests done and it appears he has clostridium. He's now on Medi Cal's new gastro for puppies and is doing well.
