Sunny Ray was sick all weekend. Well, kinda. I had to do a LOT of cleaning in the yard and a little in the house. Did I mention A LOT????? Other than that, he was his normal, jovial, bouncy self. Eating like a horse until I made him fast for 20 hours. Yeah... that's kind of like trying to get a cat to stay away from catnip. Sunny Ray tried counter surfing and we had to move the trash can to the top of the washer. He would just sit.... and stare at me while we ate... with those big, beautiful brown eyes. Tell ME I'm not strong willed. ;)
Well, needless to say we had to take in a fecal sample from him... and Justan. I should make mention here that my husband, Harold, did this. He deserves honorable mention, as he does NOT do dog poop. He used one of my kitchen ladles (which we now have to replace - EEEEWWWW!), scooped some up, bagged it and took it to our Vet for testing.
We have Hookworms. My poor babies. Actually Sunny Ray has them and Justan isn't showing any yet, but we're going to treat them both to be on the safe side. I asked the Vet how he got them, but they said it can be a variety of ways. they can even get them from walking down in grass WEEKS after another dog has passed with them. And apparently our heatworm medication didn't stop them, which I don't understand... ??
Anyways... Sunny Ray is happy. He's back to eating - even if it does include 4 horse pills and liquid dewormer. Just hoping he starts getting better soon!
