Have to take Cooper to the vet - his right eye has a white discharge. He was taking sticks out of the pile as my husband was trimming bushes, so he may have poked doesn't seem to bother him too much. ugh. :-( I've just been wiping around the eye with warm water...

Our vet just said we could use the benadryl as needed, if we noticed him rubbing his eyes, sneezing, etc. - pretty much the same symptoms we have ;-) His eye is cleared up, one more week on the ointment.

Both Gracie and Quinn have ongoing allergy issues. It seems to be environmental and so it comes and goes. I've used Benadryl during times when they seem to be going nuts with extreme gnawing and biting and definitely if they start to tear up any skin, however, if the symptoms are mild, I don't treat. Is your vet recommending Benadryl long term? Myself... I wouldn't be comfortable with that and I think I'd be questioning my vet about the pros and cons. Hope Cooper's eyes are clearing up!

He has conjunctivitis - nothing serious. We have to put ointment in his eye for 2 weeks.
The vet also suggested Benadryl 2x's a day. Anyone else have problems with allergies? We were thinking allergies may be a problem...

Ouch!  I had a past dog that scratched her eye. I had to put ointment on it and it healed quick.
