A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

Daisy has been with us for a month now.  Two weeks our big, overzealous 2 yr old puppy, Howie, crashed into Daisy while playing and broke her arm.  Surgery was required and now all is well and she has a soft cast.  We find it near impossible to keep a 3 month old puppy sedate as the post-op instructions would have it.  She loves to run and pounce.  She is not supposed to roughhouse, but that is hard to prevent, too.  Often she is the instigator.  At her 12 week check, she was 15.9 lbs with soft cast.  She has post op check this weekend.  We hope all is well in doodle land.   A few new pics are posted.  I have not been a good doodle mommy in taking pics and they do not pose like Harrison and Brodie.

a small crate would be helpful, also a knog toy that you can put a treat inside; to distract her from removing the cast.

Oh sweet baby Daisy, we hope you feel better real soon, sweetie! I'm sure that your brother Howie is being a good doodle nurse. Hugs and loving paws!

Thank you Grace and Pemon for the adorable get well wishes.  Daisy spends much of her time in a wire play pen, but she jumps up on the side and is slow in learning "off".  But  the area keeps her from running around the house.  She is crated at night and when we have to go out.  Howie also has his pen area that we use when we leave and eat.  The two pens don't leave much room for us in the dining room.  She got her staples out today and they did not rebandage.  Her leg looks fragile and she has a bit of a limp.  She seems so unprotected to me.  Will likely call him back on Monday.  My friend has a large crate that I can get tomorrow, so I will likely use that for awhile instead of the pen.

Oh no!  Daisy I hope you are not in a lot of pain and that you heal up real good and quickly.  Love, Pemon

I'm so sorry Daisy got hurt and I know Howie didn't do it intentionally!  However, it did make me stand up and take notice because we just added Delilah to our family and have 2 year old Jackson too!  He doesn't mean to, but he can get rough with his 75lbs....It's the bull in the China Shop for sure!~  I will be extra diligent with them now though.  Delilah weighed in at 9 lbs. at the vet yesterday.  I have a portable canvas crate for Jackson and decided to purchase a regular wire crate for him today.  I felt it would be good to spend quiet time next to each other and realize that is fun too...Delilah is an instigator with her razor sharp teeth, and Jackson is very tolerant....but....if she pierces his lip, he might not be so tolerant.  Hope she heals quickly and ready to romp again soon!

Oh geeze, how unfortunate, but those things happen.  Do you kennel her for periods of time to keep her calm?

Poor Daisy, get better soon!  And I am sure Howie didn't mean to hurt you.  Just keep gaining weight and you will catch up to him and can play as "ruff" as you like!  :)
