Bailey has now tinkled 3 times (that I know of)  when he's gotten excited about someone greeting him.  We have been firm about no jumping and I'm wondering if he is nervous because he wants to jump?  He also turns to the side when he is greeting?

Any advice?

haha thanks Bruce :)

And thanks for the good points.  Nice to know he is sharing his butt with us just like his dog buddies :)

Ironic...I've always associated excitement tinkling with "little dogs" .  they seem to do it ALL THE TIME.  But its also common with puppies.  They'll grow out of it.

My Ginger turns to the side, also, when she greets people.  With me, she goes round and round.  From all I've read about dog behavior, I think its sort of, kinda, almost a friendly they are turning their butt towards you so you can easily smell them.  ('member..thats what dogs do when they meet new dogs...smell the butt...)

Good luck.  It seems like it's the humans who need the most trainging when dealing with dogs not the dogs themselves. LOL!

Jill that is the biggest issue for us is getting others to not excite. First it was the jumping.  We had to ask everyone to stop calling him up to jump. And we'd correct it every time.  But I think we will have to try the ignoring for the tinkling.

My Denver has started to do that too.  We now just ignore him when we get home from being out and I tell any visitors to do the same.  Then he is not overly excited because everyone is paying so much attention to him. Once he is calm and relaxed we and our visitors say a calm hello and pet him.  This has helped and I haven't seen any peeing since.

Whenever someone says "he's so cute"  It just confirms that I'm not crazy. Cause I think he is so stinken adorable! :)

And Jane your Doodles are amazing! Their coloring is so pretty :)

I have no advice.  I just wanted to tell you how CUTE you puppy is.  I'm sure you already know that, but if you're like me, you still like to hear it.  Good luck.
