A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

The early spring like weather brought out the clippers this week.  Both Lily and Nessy were getting way too shaggy.  No more!

Proof positive that you don't have to be a pro to clipper your dogs, as long as you accept that the results may not be as stylish as they are practical:

Lily - Before

Lily - After

Nessy - Before

Nessy - After

Both were shaved using #7FC blades for their entire body.  #3 3/4 for the ears, finish trim with scissors. Combination of clippers and scissors for the face, And scissor trim of tails (not shown in these pics - but left comparatively full).  Photos taken before bath and final clean up trim.

Lois - they got a similar shave on the 4th & 5th of October 2011, the holiday pictures were taken 17 December - so about 10 weeks later that's what they looked like, and about 5 months later these "before" pictures are the result (ignoring a few sanitary trims in between ;)   One thing to ignore between shave downs & grow back - Nessy's beard - I didn't take it as short last fall as I did this spring.

Jan, how long does it usually take to grow back to your Christmas photo for example.        I'd like to wait to clip until the weather really becomes hot.. 90 to 100 degrees... then colder in late september-october    ... Cold here is on late December through mid Jan.

I did the same with Cal.  His curly locks were just getting too messy and too hot for him - he went to the groomers last week and it's like a new dog!

Thanks Alessandra!  No, doing 2 is enough for me, lol ;)

The warm weather is already here, and they're quite happy to be rid of the heavy coats. :)

So you did this Jan? Wow, really good job and they look gorgeous and they will be happier when the warm weather arrives. ... Will you do house calls? LOL! :)
