A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

So, Louie is my only child.  I take him to play a lot with my friends' dogs.  He is in love with other dogs.  I feel like for a few days after his play dates he is depressed without his I just making this up???? :)  I was just wondering how many of you went out and got your doodle a companion? And if you did get another dog, did you get another doodle? I can't imagine getting anything but a doodle now!

I got my Doodle for my Poodle. We had two dogs pass away in a Dix week period, leaving Jasper alone and very depressed. Bringing Vito home perked him right back up! Us too, for that matter.

Jamey:  Wow!  Fox red Labs are beautiful!  They're hunters.  I really don't know enough about Labs - maybe their all hunters.  But I noticed that a Fox Red Lab has shorter hair and is stockier built.  Beautiful dog.

Jamey, not long ago we got a second doodle.  Our first is only a year and a half old and we thought the second would be a great addition as we were always looking for a play mate.  Currently it is hectic.  The pup disrupts everyone's sleep, and the first dog's eating habits, and walking is difficult as the pup just wants to hang off the neck of the big dog. BUT, having said all that, they are great companions, they provide hours of entertainment and we know that in a year or two we should have the best dogs!  It won't always be so busy.  Both doodles, both wonderful.  Name of pup is Sweet Jorja Brown - have considered  changing it to Bad Bad Leroy Brown! LOL

Mark & Grace - My daughter corrected me - her dog is a fox red lab, not a red fox lab.  She says there are lots of great pictures if you google it.  Willy is smaller framed than the labs I've had, finer featured but very strong.  Let me know if you don't find any pics.  She lives near Toronto but couldn't find a pup nearer than 2000 mi away in Western Canada.

What is a red fox lab?  I'll google it.  I have learned so much from this website about different dogs.

I've been resisting the urge to get a second dog for ages now and keep looking on the kijiji website hoping there's a dog needing foster care.  The main thing holding me back is having to arrange boarding for 2 dogs when I travel.  My adult kids will take Farley but if there were 2 of them, that'd be too much to ask.  Also, having spent many thousands on vet bills this year, I wouldn't want to double that expense either.  But Farley loves going to my kids' homes where there is at least 1 dog to play with.  A week ago my daughter added a second dog to their household -a chocolate labradoodle to be pack mate with their red fox lab and when they were in the decision making process, sne emailed me saying, "I know you're the only one who won't think we're crazy".  It's wonderful to watch how this very energetic young lab plays with the new doodle pup.

I think the only bad thing about having more than one child at home is, the more you have the more of a pack that they become. I think they lose some of the excitment and joy that they normally have when seeing another dog when they are a pack. Or maybe they just become more cautious on who they will let come into their space. Having one was a lot easier during walks.
