I hope we get some rain from Irene, we could use it.   It was a beautiful breezy day today, but the clouds have moved in now so keeping my fingers crossed that at least one of those bands make it this far inland. Good Luck to all you folks in her path.

You're right!  I think Laurie is just going to get a lot of rain.  But I hope no flooding.    I was thinking she's in North Carolina.    Yup, poor folks in New York, Connecticut and New England.  Think about the really expense real estate up there on the coast.  Long Island NY has the Hamptons, Connecticut is on the Long Island Sound in the south and your've got Greenwich, Westport and Darien with lots of expensive houses.  Also Stamford and Norwalk.  Travelers Insurance Co. is shaking in their shoes and all set up and ready to go.  Anyone from North Carolina to Boston - I wish you the best and hope you are safe.  Damage can always be repaired.

Friday afternoon....looks like the storm is staying off the coast of Florida...Good for Grace....but its still predicted to hit N. Carolina.  That should miss you, Laurie, right ?  Just get lots of rain.  But lookout NY and Connecticut and New England.....ho, boy!

My wife's mom just moved from Wash, DC area to here in Texas in June. She is SO HAPPY to have missed the earthquake and now the hurricane.  We lived for awhile at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, near Havre de Grace...had our boat at a marina there.. Not real solid constuction....I suspect that all the marinas around that area will incur some serious damage...Sherry actually works with an office in Havre de Grace and they have already quit work and started hunkering down....

You should see the pictures I just saw online from the space station.  Awesome and scarey!  Just a little while ago we had some winds come up all of a sudden and then it poured.  We're just getting some of the outerbands - can you imagine what an intense storm this is.  Reminds me of when we got his with Wilma in 2005.  What a mess.  Most businesses were closed for a week.  We didn't have any electricity for 16 days.  Thank heavens with have a gas water heater and a generator.  We had Comcast cable at the time and we were without cable for 3 weeks.  My husband went through Andrew which hit Homestead, FL even though he lived in Ft. Lauderdale he was without electricity for a long time with that one also.    We can't fight mother nature, but I say if we get hit with one, we can go without electricity as long as everyone is safe.

Oh, Yeah...forgot about Paul and Toni.  Hope they have packed up or hunkered down by now...looks like the storm has Long Island and Connecticut boresighted.  Let us know if we can help, guys !  I'm still concerned about Laurie...keep us updated you'all...

Bruce our Goldendoodle member Paul Raider (remember Westchester County memories?) lives in Torrington, Ct.     I have family in Norwalk, Ct. on the coast not too far from NYC.  We also have a member who posted a picture a few weeks ago Toni from Norwalk, Ct.  She was having major oral surgery and we have never heard from her again.  Where are you Toni?  Is all O.K?

South Florida hasn't gotten it too bad, not too many winds, but we are getting some rain.  Schools are in session as usual.

Got an email from a friend in Vero Beach...he says the storm is going to just brush Florida and give you some much needed rain.  Carolina is gonna get it really bad, so out and keep safe, even if you are nowhere near the coast.

Do we know anybody in NY or Connecticut ?
