A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

Quinn had a great night, and as you can see, he is feeling at home already. Put his bed on the floor right alongside me and there he slept all night long. Gracie is a bit wary of him right now. He play-pounced on her a couple of times and then this morning, he whacked her in the head with his tail--she yipped :( She still approaches him with tail wagging, but she is giving him a pretty side berth when he is moving around. I don't blame her and I know it will all work out. There is a learning curve for us all. We are giving Gracie extra (if that's possible) love and "good girl" comments.

Quinn has not left my side and most of the time wherever I park myself, I have Gracie laying on one side and Quinn on the other. There is nothing like the love of a dog...

Looks like Quinn has claimed the couch! Such a beautiful story. While on vacation I kept hunting my mobile phone for updates! So excited to hear things are going along well. Give it time, it will just get better. Obviously he loves his new family.

Thank you so much Alessandra. This community has brought tears to my eyes many times over the past week. My heart goes out to all unfortunate animals, but this guy grabbed it. I am a believer in the idea of "a reason for everything," and I'm not so sure that there are coincidences. I think opportunities present themselves and what happens depends on how much we pay attention and what we do. If the shelter hadn't needed a dehumidifier and if I hadn't taken one over, there would be no Quinn in this family at this moment. I wish you all could be in the same room with this guy. He's just a pup, but he's got an old soul. We have been blessed. An acquaintance said I was "obsessed with this dog." She said it as if it was a problem or a disease, but the way I see it, if I am/was, I can't think of anything more deserving of my obsession.

Gracie is coming back around already. She really does like him and she does want to play with him, she just now has an awareness of what can happen when your playmate is so much bigger than you and has such a long tail! As you said, she's smart, and I can see that she has already made adjustments to avoid getting whacked or pounced upon again.

Again and again, thank you all for being in this with me. I've gotten so much support over the past several days, it's somewhat humbling.

You can be sure I will keep posting and sharing. I'm pretty sure we have a lot ahead of us before we get to the point where life is just a day-to-day routine...

You have no idea how much Quinn's story has touched my heart. These days there seem to be so many stories of dogs being abused, abandoned and neglected that to hear a first hand account -by a member of our Doodle Family!! - of a happy story of a puppy that has those soulful eyes and that sweet expression really has tugged at my heartstrings. Thank you for rescuing Quinn and letting him love you and your husband and Gracie. I am sure that Gracie and him will figure out "maneuvers" :)  as you said, Doodles are smart and so sensitive to other dogs, and they will be best siblings ever. Congratulations and keep the photos and the blog posts coming! Loving paws!

That is one happy pup!  Dulcie was a bit rambunctious with Trixie in the beginning and scared her a little as well, but they have worked things out and now are playing like bandits.  Bet it will all turn out fine!  Congrats on this new "baby"! Absolutely love the pic!
