A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

Hello there! I have always had dogs growing up and in my adult life. For the past five years we have been without a dog, losing our last dog just created a void so large it took a while to heal. Over the past few months we had realized how much we missed having a dog in our life and so conversations about getting a puppy started. I knew that now that I had stopped working I could put in more time and also wanted to do something to give back to the community. I have always worked in healthcare and I always wanted to do therapy work, so I looked for breeds that were known to have the desired characteristics for this task and, as I'm sure everyone on here knows, a doodle was at the top of the list. Well needless to say a puppy found us and the rest is history. We have had her for four weeks now and I can't remember life without her. I hope to share our journey but more importantly learn and listen to others who have opened their hearts to a doodle.

Absolutely, positively right, Grace.  He was a Devil with a capital D.  Now that he's feeling better, he's showing some of that Devilish personality, but he knows the rules.  Love him LOTS!  And, yes ... I got such great support here with my Doodle friends.

Yes Sharon, Jo had a real devil there and he sure brought her to tears many times.  But with love and patience Jo prevailed.  huh Jo?  LOL  She got a lot of support from the community.

I just saw your photos.  What a sweetheart.  I remember Gizmo at that size.  They just get sweeter and sweeter (after the puppy stage wears off a little - LOL).  Gizmo is the BEST!

I heard about Gizmos mishap and have read that he is recovering nicely, good for him poor baby. I love the personality of doodles, they are so great. I put some pics up of Mazie, hope you can see them. I heard that the "nose work" classes are fun for both owners and dogs! Good luck.

Ooops!  I meant the for-fun Agility Class not Obedience.  Silly me.

Welcome Sharon & Maize.  We have a friend who has an Australian Labradoodle.  I haven't seen him since he was a puppy and he was adorable then.  He is now about 9 months old.  Gizmo is a Goldendoodle, but has the same personality as Chevy (our friend's doodle.

I was hoping to put Gizmo in some classes to be certified to be a therapy dog, but his broken leg delayed that.  However, his doggy daycare/boarding facility is offering a "Nosework for dogs" class for fun that we hope to attend.  They are also offering a "for-fun" obedience class, but he needs a little more time to heal his leg before being asked to jump and run and all the other stuff they do.

Can't wait to see some pics of Maize.

Oh thanks for the warm welcome everyone, I am excited about our new pup. Alittle more info on her: she is an Australian labradoodle, caramel color with the greatest green eyes and rose nose. She is ecpected to be a medium size around 35lbs so we will see. When do they usually get to their grown height? Her name is Mazie and we so adore her!

I'm excited to hear others also looking to do therapy work with their dogs. I hope we make it, we are putting in all our energy to do this. I know she is going to be a great companion for us, but going that extra step to be a therapy dog would be the icing on the cake.

I'm curious about what training you have done with your pups. We just finished a 4 weeks puppy kindergarten class which I think was well worth it and have signed up for the basic obedience class to start May 30th.

@ Marsha- have you done any training or do you plan to? this will be a great pace to share everyones experience with that.

Hey Erica!  Good to hear from you.  How's Vito & Jasper?  Glad you're back.  We need some recent pictures of your babies!
