A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

I just posted some new pictures of Pemon with his latest hair cut.  It was done a week ago and I swear it has grown already.  Had him at the Vets today and are you ready?  He's weighing in at 93 lbs.  As you can see by the pictures he is far from fat.

The other pictures he is having a catch with Mark, which we end up doing two to three times a day.  He just loves it!

O.K.  I have a questions for anyone that can give me some advice about allergies.  Does anyone have a Doodle with allergies?  Don't want to go through a ton of money finding out what he is allergic to.  (Bruce, go ahead and correct my spelling - I think I need help)

Anyway - Maybe it is the same thing that bothers all of the Doodles and we can correct it.  I've changed his food to pedigree chicken & rice.  Yes, we do give him people food.  Mostly meet - steak, chicken & pork.  Not a lot, but some.

What kind of treats are everyone giving their doodles?

Help Please, if you can.

JoAnn, Pemon is 15 months as of yesterday.  He is 93 lbs now.  At 4 1/2 months I think he was around 50 lbs.  Even the breeder was shocked.  He is a real big boy!  I'll have to take some more pictures and post them.  Soon.

Hi Grace...great haircut for Pemon.  Miss Murphy gets one next Thursday.  It has been difficult to find someone who knows how to cut & groom a doodle & have her still look like a doodle.  This place came highly recommended by friend...she doesn't have a doodle.  Last cut pretty good, but kind of short...guess that will be good for the summer.  My hubby & I like it just the length It is TODAY!! but know it will get unruly if we let it go more than 3 mos. between cuts.  He grooms her a lot between cuts to prevent mats!!  We're giving this groomer a 2nd try.  How old is Pemon now.  One of your May pictures says 4 1/2 mos.  He can't possibly weigh 93 lbs. at 4 1/2 mos., can he!!??  And, no, he's not can tell he's a big handsome boy, though!!

Ok Grace, First thing for allergies, NO PEOPLE FOOD! that being said, you have to get one type of food and stick with it for 3 months at least. If things are no better than you find something better. I would stick to the hypoallergenic foods. Purina has a good one that is not to pricey. Only give the same brand of treats as the dog food that you are feeding. The best thing you could do as far as treats goe, is to by the canned version of their food and make little cookies to bake in the oven for them. That way it is a different texture and shape than their dog food and they do not know the difference. If you do not know what is causing the allergies the only way to find out is to stick with one diet only.

It is not just Doodles, it seems so many breeds are having allergy issues these days.

Me  ?  Spelling ?  Would someone please inform my wife !!!  She makes fun of my spelling all the time!  I'd probably do well at texting, since no one who texts seems to care about spelling.

I found a treat at the grocery store that Ginger likes...called NoBrainer.  Supposedly no Bran in it...just meat.  But Gingers real favorite, besides Milk Bones, is Pounce Moist Cat Treats.  She's always there when we get ready to treat the cats.....

My first Doodle Gus had allergies as well but we were never quite sure to what exactly.  He was on a special diet Science Diet WD from the vet which helped with his loose bowels and Metronidazole pill once a day.  He was very itchy at times and would chew his front legs.  We never gave him any human food and I was not suppose to give him any treats but he did get Pure Bite treats the dried cheese ones which he loved.  We didnt spend the $ investigating, my vet said that we could do a certain test but they could all come back negative so we just elimanated things we thought could be the cause.    Gus we think was not 100% healthy from the start.  We always had issues with him and by 2 yrs of age he had gotten really sick the vet thinks with cancer and had to be put to sleep the first week of Dec.  We were devastated to say the least.  Besides the health problems he was the most awesome dog we have ever had.  We now have a 9 wk old doodle named Denver who is showing no health issues which is a great relief.
