Hi all! My husband, 2 sons (10 and 12), and myself are the new owners of a Mini Goldendoodle named Cali. We are so excited, she is so sweet. Cali is 11 weeks old tomorrow. We are crate training and working on housebreaking her as well. 2 days a week I am out of the house for work for almost 12 hours. This will start next week. Currently, Cali is in a crate that sits inside of a larger pen. I had been keeping the crate door closed and getting up frequently during the night to let her to the wee wee pad. When she first falls asleep she will not cry for 3-4 hours. When she does cry, I get up and bring her to pad, she will go, thenni give a treat and put her back in crate and close door with latch. After her first waking it seems to be hourly. Any suggestions? It’s only been 3 nights since she’s been with us and there have been a number of accidents, but should I leave crate door open so long as she’s in the pen? Also, I have been covering crate with a blanket at night, this would be difficult to do if own door is to stay open. Any suggestions or feedback are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

You are on target... allow her to follow you around the house after she has been outside..  Now is the time to teach the sit,  give you high-fives..  with small treats.. Also roll a ball telling her to "find your ball"   she is learning your langue as I type..    Even now she wants to please...

You could try once and see what happens.  Hourly is pretty often but hopefully she'll calm down.  I guess it's a good sign that she doesn't pee in her crate.    Do you give her plenty of exercise during the day to tire her out?   Just throwing out some suggestions!

Sorry! I should add that when I return to work for the 2 days next week, we plan to have someone in a few times a day until we return.
