I have Marley scheduled for his neutering next Wednesday the 19th. He just turned 6 months on the 8th , we have company coming on the 25th, older adult company . Will that be a problem? Some say it's better younger, heals faster,...then there are cons that I have read that say it increases their odds of getting different kinds of cancers later in life doing it too young .... how long do they have to wear the cone? At what age did did you fix your doodles? I have heard 6 mo then I've heard 12 months ? ? You hear all kinds of stuff, I just want to do the best for him. Thanks !

My opinion.  We had Pemon done at 6 months.  He wore a cone, but some of the members don't like them and they would keep the stitches covered somehow.  The cone did not bother Pemon.  I think they want you to keep the cone on until they take the stitches out.  10 days? I've heard it's better to get them done young.  Our other dog, Fletch (may he RIP) was neutered at 4 months, I think this is before they decided you should wait until they are 6 months.  Pemon is going to be 4 on St. Patricks Day and everything is fine with him.  By the time your Company comes he may not be going after the stitches as much and you might only need to keep it on him when you're not around.
