A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

Ok we are doing a major puppy shopping trip on Saturday.

We need everything from kennel to toys.

What are the things you wish you'd thought of or couldn't do without when bringing your puppy home??

Also I learned this a little late, but once they start teething, it can be a tad annoying and painful might I add... I do not like physical punishment at all, I was watching Caesar the puppy trainer and he suggested putting pennies in a pop can, taping off the top, when they start to bite shake it... it's apparently like nails on a chalk board to us... works like a charm :)

Be careful using your sock for a tug-o-war, once you establish that they will associate all socks for tug-o-war leaving you with holes in all of your socks :) Jackson loves his "baby" or stuffed animal lion, he carries it everywhere with him, make sure they have a squeaker though, they go crazy with it. Hope your doing well with your new baby!!!

I know this is a bit late for your shopping trip - but check out:

I no longer give my dogs the cow hooves (too many upset tummies).  Otherwise, the list is a good place to start.

Hope this helps. :)

Pretty sure we got way too many toys.  Considering most of the suggestions are socks, towels and t-shirts!! lol  But when your at the store it's like..."he's gotta have it!" lol

Tamara & Laurie:  I was going to say old T-shirts also.  I never thought of it Laurie - It probably is the scent.  But Pemon goes wild for Mark's T-shirts.  Again he wants to have a tug of war, but drags it around the house also.  LOL!

Well the shopping trip was a success.  Feels good having everything ready for him to be home. Love the shampoo and conditioner we found called TropiClean. Hoping it works as good as it smells.

Love that idea Laurie :)  Hubby's got plenty of old t-shirts we can prep for puppy.

Mark and Grace we bought a ton of puppy toys.  But I'm guessing the old sock will be the fave! lol

We bring him home next Monday the18th :)

Old T-shirts that you can wear and then put into the crate with the baby. They will have your scent on them and make her feel that you are near.

N E W S P A P E R S!!!!!!  Of course, we had a lot of left over toys from our beloved Fletch so we didn't have to buy any.  But tie a couple of old socks together for tug of war.  They love it better then the toys.  He also loves to drag an old towel around the house.  Weird, huh?  When do you bring the pup home?

I meant crate training, but guess you understood that.
