Mommy is stepping in to post today. ~Sunny Ray

It has been a very busy summer. I lost my job, but I'm getting ready to start a new one. Will be working 12 hour days and probably won't be able to post much, but will try to keep in touch as much as I can.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this summer while I was off work. I "unhooked" from the computer some and spent a lot of time outside with our boys. It has spoiled me! I absolutely love having the extra time with Justan and Sunny Ray. We have went on many walks and played a lot. We have also had a new addition come into our life. Our daughter got a black lab puppy that I have been puppy sitting. He loves Sunny Ray because he plays with him, but he's not sure about Justan - since Justan just likes to sniff him all the time and follow him around. Going back to work will be hard leaving my babies...

I have watched Sunny Ray grow and become more settled. He still pulls on the leash, but he is so much better on other stuff. He is still goofy, carries around his "blankie" and hasn't tore up Piggie or Tiki yet. He is quite the love bug.

I have enjoyed the extra time with Justan. He is really showing his age and there are times that when I look at him, the tears well up in my eyes. The night before last he went after his ball and slid on the night dew on the grass. He landed on his hip and side, and it winded him. Took me a few minutes to calm him down so he could get back up. He has started to sleep beside me on the floor at night. When we took him camping, we had to lift him into the van and into the camper - which is not easy since he weighs 95 pounds. He has started to "power eat". He scarfs his food and doesn't chew, so we had to raise his bowl up so he at least breathes while he eats, and I have to spread his meals out over 3 separate servings. But when I look into those beautiful brown eyes, I still see the puppy he is at heart. Hard to believe he will be 13 years old soon. He's moving slower, but he's still going strong.

I just wanted to touch base with my friends here and to say thank you for all the love and support. This is such a great group and I feel very blessed to have each of you in my life.

Sending love and hugs to all!!

(From Mitzi):

We have missed all of our wonderful friends! I have been working very long hours and getting ready to go to 7 days a week. Needless to say, I'm still putting "feelers" out for other options.

It's getting cooler outside. Justan and I don't like it at all, but Sunny Ray is in seventh heaven. All he wants to do is sit outside in the cool breeze. Although all the Halloween decorations are freaking him out. Our neighbor has one of those figurines that makes eerie noises and everytime Sunny Ray hears it, he starts growing and runs behind Mommy. HAHAHA! He is such a baby!

(From Sunny Ray): I am not.

I miss you Twin Brudda from Anudda Mudda and Auntie Alessandra!

Alessandra, that brought tears to my eyes. Thank you! Justan is definitely a gentle giant :) and so majestic. It's weird, because Sunny Ray is taller, but sooooo goofy. I find I have to talk about the silly things he does and some of his actions because I didn't go through this while Justan was training me (haha). When he was a puppy, he liked to run and chase things - just like a normal dog. With Sunny Ray, it's almost like he's a human child. They are so alike in some ways, but night and day in other ways. I still can't believe Justan will be 13 this year. Where does the time go? For soem reason I had it in my head that Pedro was close to the same age as Sunny Ray. Haha!

I'm not sure when I'll be starting my new job - waiting on the background check to come back. I'm not complaining, though. It's another week home with my kids. HAHA! Our daughter named their black lab: Smokey. He has a white patch on his chest. I've been trying to help some with his training, but not too much, because I don't want to interfere and he's not my dog. I just wish they would work with him more, because he's a very good puppy. I have pent up frustrations with them about it, though, and some things they do break my heart. Maybe I'm just geting old and sappy.

I have to run for now... Justan is laying in front of me and he is quite "gassy" right now. Haha! Not sure how much longer I can sit here and still breathe. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

Dearest Auntie Mitzi, lots of loving paws to you from me, Pedro and here's Mommy, she wants to say something to you...

Dear Mitzi, best of lucks with the new job. I'll be thinking of you and wishing you the best. Congrats on your "grandpuppy"! :) and so glad that Justan has your love and the love and the company of Sunny Ray and the new lab puppy. I see Pedro and think that he's going to turn 5 this November and as much as he is and always will be my baby, it seems to me that time has gone so fast and I don't want to think about him getting older... Not that the goofiness and young puppy attitudes and love have changed much in him - LOL ! And I'm grateful for that.

Anyway, I got sidetracked... I wish you the best in your new job and I hope that you charge up the batteries, get reeneregized every time Sunny Ray and Justan and your grandpuppy give you kisses, hugs, loving paws and all those reasons to smile!

Take care and loving paws to Sunny Ray, Justan and the grandpuppy! (what's his name?)

Congrats on the new job!  It's nice that Sunny Ray has his own puppy to entertain him - burn off some of that energy!  It is so hard when you see your babies start to age - but it makes me happy for Justan that he has someone who cares so much for him and will make sure that transition to "senior citizen" is as smooth as possible.  Have a good first week at work and steal lots of puppy kisses to help you through it!

Oh Mitzi, you brought tears to my eyes.  I know what you mean about Justan.  We lost our Fletch at that age and you know I never even thought that 13 years in some cases is a full life time for dogs.  I'm glad he enjoys following the black lab around.  Keeps him young.

Sunny Ray  sounds just like Pemon.  And at 2 1/2 years old Pemon is still goofy and very loving.  I just love him to death.

Glad to hear that you landed a job.  You are very fortunate with the way the economy is.

Big hugs to Sunny Ray and Justan from Pemon, The Gentle Giant!

P.S.  Pemon said to tell Justan he can join the "Gentle Giant Club"  and he will be referred to as the wise one!  XXOO
