Molly's 8 months old and matting up like crazy.  Here's a photo of her after her latest haircut.  As well as trying to stay on top of the matting so I don't have to shave her, and to help her to keep a little cooler in the summer I gave her a quick cut.  And I mean "quick".  I didn't use a comb or anything, I just grabbed a handful of hair and chopped it off, digging deeper where the matts were.
I'm surprised that she still looks so long haired in this photo cause I thought I was hacking her to nothing.

I realize that a professional cutter would make her look great, but you know, it's really hard to wreck these dogs in taking the clippers to them.   I just wildly chopped away at her, and she's still bearable to look at.  :)

I was going to say, where's the pictures.  LOL  Can you see right above?  It has "Comment" then right below that your profile picture.  Next to that are icons.  The first on is "link" the 2nd one which is a picture and when you run your cursor over it, it says image.  Click on that and it will prompt you to add your picture.  That's how you do it Ladies.

I can't figure out how to post a photo with a blog, either. Glad I'm not the only one :)

Rose that's exactly how the groomer did it.  She grabbed handfuls and cut.  Eli wasn't matted but I was so sure it was going to look awful.  The opposite is true, it looks great. You did a good job.

I haven't figured out how to post the photo with the blog.  The photo I referred to is in the photo section with the imaginative name 20130709_211502.  :)
