Molly was spayed a week last Friday and the vet said it was ok for her to start walks off lead after a week - took her out on the Saturday over the canal for a walk and she decides to play with a passing dog which side steps her and ends up in the canal - we got her home and gave her a bath but her wound has since got very red and puffy - we took her back to the vets last night and she has got an infection - back with the cone on for another week - hopefully the antibiotics will clear it up :( but molly is not happy with the Cone !! :(

I am glad Molly is doing better and the infection is clearing up. How long will she have to wear the "cone of shame"? Never met a dog that liked that contraption.

Andrea, glad to hear that Molly is doing much better.  Pemon and I wish her a speedy recovery.

Monday 22nd - Molly is making great progress. The redness and raised skin has subsided. She has another 2 days of antibiotics, but we are taking no risks and keeping her on lead walks only for another week - so no way can she get into any more scrapes with the Canal :/

I had thought of getting her some echinacea ( not sure of spelling - understand very good for the immune system).

Thanks everyone for being there - these dogs are a worry! thanks Andrea & Molly xxxx

Hi Andrea, Worried about Molly & wondering how she's doing. Don't know if you have any holistic Vets in your area or not  but they have come to my rescue more than once ...for my cats, dogs & horses. One of the most helpful info & paractical solutions is to build their immune system. Even though we need antibiotics at certain times it also undermines the immune system, so to strengthen it ( immune system ) there are several ways to help it.

I don't have the luxury of holistic Vets in my neck of the woods, & not to misunderstand me, I have a wonderful caring Vet & but sometimes "western medicine", for lack of a better term, doesn't work or is not enough. Some of the web sites that have helped me in several cases & may help you , if not now but maybe in future are:

Info from these cites, & others,  has saved our dear Brooke, a 3 yr. old Aussiedoodle, & Carmelita, a 3 yr. old cat. Unfortunately, I didn't have this knowlege in time to save our beloved Golden Retriever, Babe, who enriched our lives beyond words.

Let me know how Molly is doing. She is so beautiful & you can tell from her pictures how special she is!!  xoxo

Oh that's great Andrea.  Everyday it will get better.

The redness is going down a bit today... maybe there is light at the end of tunnel ;)

Oh Molly, I hope you feel better real soon.  I wore the cone and it didn't bother me because I knew there was a light at the end of the tunnel.  LOL  get the pun?

Tell Mommy and Daddy to kiss it and make it all better.  Let us know how you're feeling from time to time so that we know you are getting better.

Big hugs, Cousin Pemon, The Gentle Giant
