A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

After the unexpected loss of our Jaxon a couple of weeks ago, we have already found our next doodle.  We promised the kids we would get a new dog in the spring, so I contacted Jaxon's breeder to see if she was planning any spring litters.  As it turned out she has a new litter right now!!  They are just over 2 weeks old which has them ready to go home sometime in March.  We reserved the only male in the 4 puppy litter.  They are F1, standard pootdle mother/golden father.  He is black, with a bit of white.  No pictures yet.

Congrats on your new puppy.  I'm sure the kids are super excited.  I can't wait to see some pics.

So sorry to hear about Jaxon, but happy for you as you look forward to your new puppy. He is adorable. Though he can't replace Jaxon, I'm sure he'll fill an important place in the family!

Sandi, we lost our Doodle at 2 yrs and 3 months of age.  It was heart breaking for us. He was a beautiful black pup who's colour changed dramatically over his short life.  We still miss him, but 4 months later we received a new doodle pup from our breeder and he has filled our hearts with love and companionship that we were missing.  All the best to you and your new pup.  We still accidentally call our new doodle by our past doodles name from time to time and he is almost a year old!  He doesn't seem to notice or mind.

I guess I should have added that even though it talks about rescue, I think it also addresses the fact that after we lose a loved pet, we can give that love to another one.

Someone posted this on facebook the other day and I love it.  I think it fits perfectly with what you are doing.

Thanks for all the supportive comments.  Yes, Grace, Jaxon was also F1.  No, Blue, we have not settled on a name, but we do have a running list.  I will have to learn creative photography, 'cuz I do like to take pictures of my "babies"

Sandi and Family, so happy for you and I'm sure that in many ways, you will know that Jaxon had a "paw" in bringing the new puppy to your house and will continue on his legacy of unconditional love and happy moments.

You are right Blue, outside is the only way that you can pick out details of their faces when they are black, but they are so beautiful.

Congratulations on your new pup!  Have you decided on a name yet?  Can't wait to see the photos!  We have one black Dood, and we find it's really difficult to get a good photo of a black dog.  They're much more beautiful in person.  Our best photos of Shadow are taken outside in natural light.

Grace your right about watching out for the inbreeding. That's why we waited to get our doodle. We only wanted a pup from our breeder because we new the history of the mom and dad. And wanting a Fb1 because of the lower level of shedding the breeding history was very important. The first generation backcross still is close enough in the breeding tree to benefit from hybrid vigour.  With each successive generation vigour is lost. It is important to do your homework.
