A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

-just add water and watch it grow-

I had Molly weighed yesterday and was shocked to see that she now weighs 58.2 lbs.  She's 36 weeks old. (or 8 months old last week).   I checked a doodle graph which is telling me that at her age she would be between 78% to 85%  of her mature weight.  Doing the math that would mean that she is expected to weigh between 68 and 75 lbs. when full grown.

Is there a shut-off switch on these dudes?  :)

Here's a photo of Molly a few weeks ago.

FYI I was in the middle of giving her a scissor cut.  Which by the way took 4 sessions to complete.  She walked around for 2 days with one ear longer than the other.    :)

Yes Meo, my friend is a groomer & she told me it took her 7 hrs to do a fidgety Labradoodle. Would probably be the same with Indie but I bath her the day before & brush her through then. So the next day is only 3 hrs work!

You were brave giving the hair trim. We have been to the groomers twice and I wondered how they do it because especially Max, he will not be still when you try to do anything with his face. Well the groomer confirmed that thought, and said he kept wanting to chew on her or the trimmer and they had to take a lot of breaks. We had both groomed the same time and they had our Doods for over 7 hours. They had to let them have potty time and play time with their day care pups. Seems like it took forever.

Beautiful girl!  Molly will probably keep growing for a bit.  At 8 months, Dulcie was 31 lbs. and at 17 months she is now 36 lbs.  I have a little Peanut compared to most of the doodles here, but she's a very TALL peanut!  She can touch my shoulders with her front paws (I am 5 ft. 1 in.) - really creeped me out the first time she came up behind me and did it, since I haven't had a dog larger than 18 lbs. in the last 25 years and it felt like a person! Lol!

Rose, Gizmo is 72# @ about 20 months.  If he's gained any more, I can't tell ... his coat has gotten soooo fluffy.  He really needs to be cut ... it's getting hot here, too.  I would NEVER attempt to cut Gizmo with either scissors or a razor.  His coat is soooooo tight and curly!  I will wash and brush, but never cut.  I leave that up to our very wonderful groomer, Jessi.

Great pose!  She's a pretty Lady.

Rose if there was a shut off switch Pemon would not be 94 lbs.  LOL.  This picture is too funny with the lop sided ears.  Oh by the way I think Pemon was weight 75 to 80 lbs at 8 months old.

Rose, I was terrified the first time I used the clippers. I started with the longest comb attachment which barely took anything off, so I kept reducing the comb size til I found the length I liked. The best part about doodle fur is that it grows back quickly & they look beautiful with the scruffy look too. My biggest issue is legs which Indie doesn't like having done.

I didn't figure myself too brave.  Where could I go wrong?  She looked like a scruffy dog before i started cutting, if she looked like one after -I figured I'd come out even.  :)   Even with my amateur cutting ability she still looked better after the cut that before.  But it was a lot of work.  Maybe one day I will get brave and try an electric trimmer.

Rose, you are doing a good job with Molly (just noticed the ears, lol). I clip Indie myself but use a comb attachment as I don't want to clip her too short. Indie is now 16 months & 72lbs, so she should be at her maximum size now & the weight should steady up.

Rose, she is a beauty. Pedro supposedly stopped growing around 18 months but he has bouts of "beefing up" a bit every once in a while. Last time we weighed him he was 75 pounds but he's very tall so he's perfectly lean.

If you ever want to take her to a groomer, we have an excellent one. She's in Langley so if I remember correctly, that might be convenient for you.
