A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

cheyenne is now 15 year goldendoodle .  Until recently was a therapy/service dog and loved every minute of it.  Last Year he showed a weakness in his hind end.  difficulty getting up, etc.  had a CT which showed problems with spine and arthritis .  He is on meloxidyl, amantldine, gabapentin and I have jus started CBD which seems to help...a bit he was on thyroid but vet & I decided to stop it.  His weight has also dropped to 67 pounds.  originally he was 98  losing his fur I realize he is very old for a big dog but he eats, drinks and does his duties very well.  It  breaks my heart to see him try to sit and then get up no more stairs .  I do believe he is also losing his sight and he no longer answers to my calls...hearing problem too,  When he coms to me and looks into eyes I swear he is telling me he does not feel well then he goes and sleeps.

We contine to give his lots of TLC and a few very short walks when he can beginning to wonder if it is fair to him to let him continue on.

Glad to hear the CBD seems to be helping.  That's wonderful news!

Thanks DonMarie and Jan.  Today was a good day.  we were out walking and then he stopped.  we turned around and the Old Guy started to prance all the way home something he has not be doing.....Thnik the CBD might be kicking in.

So sorry to hear.  I'm sure you had a wonderful life with Cheyenne.  I think the amount of pain he has would determine what to do. It's such a personal decision.

I am so very sorry to read that Cheyenne is feeling his age.

This is one of the hardest things we go through as pet owners.  I've been there, twice.  What I can say is there is no easy answer, but that you know your dog best.  Do what you feel is best, and know that your dog knows you love him.
