A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

We've had Howie for a month now.  He had his second vet visit yesterday.  Weighed it at 16.9 lbs.  Still feels like a bag of bones, vet said we could up his food a tad, but added he feels smaller boned.  He is quite a bit smaller than the other goldendoodle in puppy class who is the same age and 20 pounds (I thought he was a good month older than Howie -- he was that much bigger).  Learning a bit more each day, but remains obstinate about walking around our neighborhood -- he did good at the vet and in Pet Smart, which is attached to the vet.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Sandi, Bruce is right, It seems the Doodles that have more of the Poodle build are lighter framed, Nug and Puk look pretty equal in size when you see them together, but Puk is 25 pounds heavier than Nug. Puk has huge solid bone structure and Nug is so light (60 pounds) I can pick him up.

Gracie, Pemon did look more like a Golden when he was younger!

Yes, Sandi Pemon was approx. 21 lbs at 13 weeks.  I also agree with Bruce.  Howie might have more poodle genes.  When we brought Pemon home I swear he looked a lot like a golden retriver.  See him in this picture.

I agree with you Bruce. It is just wait and see how all the genes line up in the end.

Sandi, you'll notice many of our photo's show pretty skinny guys and girls (in my view...).  My opinion, which is worthless of course, is that the skinny folks are more poodle genes than retriever genes.  I haven't measured Ginger's height, but her 64 pounds seems perfect..she's not really fat.  'Course, some of these 94 lb guys (hello, Grace...) whew...I can't even imagine !

Comment by Lois - Izzi on April 15, 2012 at 11:14pm

hi Sandi, Izzi is slight of bone also.  Which is why she can be tall, and lanky, weighing only 50 lbs.

Pat Smart is great ... I like the scales out where I can weigh her every time I drop in for whatever.  Both Izzi and Charlie had free choice at the same age...
