A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

Hi all,

It has been a while since we have sent an update. We have been sooooo busy. Camping every weekend. Mom and dad have been taking us up north to beat the heat almost every weekend.  We take our trailer and hang out where the weather is 80 during  the day and in the 50's at night which is a big difference from 118 during the day and 101 at night. We love it. We can run free and explore.  Our next adventure will be in our new UTV. Mom and dad have special harnesses for us to be clipped in the back seat. They can it Can Am Maverick 4. Not sure what that is, but it looks like it will be fun

We have added a new doodle family member, Bentley. He is 7 years old and a deep apricot color. His personality is between Brodie and I. He likes fetch with tennis ball like me and chase like Brodie. Mom is teaching him how to swim. So far he is not vey good at it, but I am sure that he will be as great as Brodie and I soon.

I have been on a diet and have lost 10lbs. I feel better and play more. Sometimes mom gets Brodie and I confused since I am thinner.

Anyone have any issues with what looks like blackheads on their skin? I have them around my privates and a few spots on my butt area. Mom read that it is caused to over production of oil. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue and what you had used to clear it up.

We hope you are all having a great summer!

Hugs and slobbers,

Harrison, Brodie & Bentley

Hi Harrison, Brodie, Kris aaannnd Bentley!! Good to read a post from you and see the happy photos. Congratulations everyone on Bentley joining the family! Lucky boy :) I love the photo of Bentley and Harrison snuggling.

I would be very interested to hear more about the Can Am and the harness that you are using. Once you get going, PLEASE post photos!!

I had never heard of blackheads on a dog, so I of course just had to google it. I read that it is more common with adolescents and that it could require antibiotics to clear it up. There is a special shampoo with benzoyl peroxide specific for dogs. It seems to be easily available online and in pet stores. Here is a copy/paste of one article that I read:

Folliculitis - Infected hair follicles might appear similar to canine acne. Folliculitis usually appears in a dog's armpits, abdomen or genital area. Some breeds are especially susceptible. Schnauzers may develop blackheads resulting from folliculitis on their backs. While mild cases respond to the same treatment as for canine acne, severe cases are another story. These cases might require at least two months of antibiotic treatment, along with special baths and clipping of affected areas.

You may know all this already, but google is my constant friend and I can never resist! :)

Enjoy the rest of your summer, and keep posting please!

Good to hear from you guys!  So you found a way to escape the crazy heat!  We're trying to stay cool here too.  Wow, you got a new brother.  Did you rescue him?  He's just as handsome as you guys but you know all us doodles are ;-)

No skin problems like that for me.  Maybe heat related?  Did you switch shampoos?
