Gizmo Update:  Had bloodwork this morning.  Not great, but not terrible.  His BUN was 78.7 and his Creatinine was 6.2.  On Sept. 18th (his first appointment) the BUN was 116.9 & Creatinine 5.9.  So we are making progress.  If he would drink more water his creatinine should come down more.  He is playing like a puppy and interested in rides and people and other fun stuff.  He gets tired very easily and eats when I can coax him to eat.  He's been a real lover and a velcro dog.  We don't have to go back for a couple weeks unless we notice a change in him.

Jo that's good news.  Maybe the prayers to St. Jude are working and all the prayers from our Doodle family.  All the cousins are praying also.

Prayers that Gizmo continues to improve. So scary when our boys/girls are sick and they can't tell us what's wrong. Hugs

Wee are not supposed to give him ANY other food/supplements.... Hyatt his special prescription kidney dog food. We did get permission to give him a popsicle was long as its sugarless. I'm hoping that will help keep him hydrated.

He has gone to the clinic and was given fluids therapy IVs twice. It's like his kidneys are just not processing. We can't keep him hydrated. His special dog food is made to make him thirsty. He always drinks after he eats. It's a struggle. Thanks for your love and concern.

I am so happy to be reading this! I'm sure you have a great deal of support from your vet and you likely don't need treatment advice, but I can't help myself... was just wondering if subcutaneous fluids were discussed. It may not be necessary, but it is something you can do at home and while it might make you a bit squeamish at first, it is really easy and becomes routine very quickly.

Quinn just spent another 3 days in critical care, is on a trunk load of meds, and is struggling to recover, so I honestly do understand the emotional exhaustion and cautious optimism you must be feeling. I'm going with the idea that our boys will be strong and will pull through!! I will continue to pray for Gizmo and for you, his humans.

Good to hear you are making some progress.  He is such a little cutie!  Could you flavor his water with chicken or beef broth to get him to drink more?

Jo, so glad to hear from you. You guys are in my thoughts every day.  I am happy  to hear that Gizmo has made progress and that he is playing - always a good sign! Will continue with prayers and please kiss that doggy nose for me and tell him he needs to drink that water for his doodle aunties and cousins! :)
