A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

Hi everyone, Milo & I are feeling sorry for ourselves.........this is because I was sneezing, snuffling & making other strange noises last night. This morning mummy made us go to the vets & they wouldn't let us go in the surgery ( I know Milo can be noisy but that was taking it a bit far I thought), anyhow the lady vet came out to us & checked us over. She told mummy she that she thinks my sneezing & so on is kennel cough, which is very contagious & why we weren't allowed in the vets office, not because of Mr Noisy! So now Milo & I are confined for two weeks, can you believe that, no free walks for 14 days, that's soooo unfair! What's even worse are the 5 huge tablets we have to take daily (I kept spitting mine out, which annoyed mum). Hope none of you guys catch this horrible cough. :( Love, Indie

Dee, did we ever hear anything more on this?  I hope all turned out O.K.

Will have to track Tangled down & take a look. Yes, Indie is a mud magnet, today's episode was to run off & dig out a rabbit warren & cut her eye on the brambles surrounding it! This is not turning out to be one of out finest weeks & I'm thinking, this is just the start of a very long winter! :(

I don't know how many here have young granddaughters, but in the movie Tangled, there is a horse named Maximus that reminds me to hysterics of Elliott. It's all about the "tude." Anyway, last evening I watched a preview of Tangled Ever After in which Maximus gets himself into a pile of trouble while acting as ringbearer at a wedding. When he finally shows back up at the wedding with the rings, he is covered with tar. I was hysterical as it reminded me of many doodles here. If you get a chance, you should watch it.

We went back to a dollop of yogurt in the a.m. with his Glucosamine today.  Gizmo is doing so much better.  He always eats grass ... I don't think it's tummy upset like everyone says.  I think he's part pony!  He's always eaten grass when we walk.  I don't think I've seen him do it in our yard, though.  Weird.

First of all, thanks for the photo Dee... though I almost burst out laughing out loud at work (and my boss was in the middle of a meeting so that would have been funny to explain). I'm sorry, Indie you are so hilarious!... and naughty, yes... But hilarious first. Hope Indie and Milo are feeling better (from the kennel cough).

Hope Gizzy, Trixie and Jasper are doing better as well. I'm taking note of all the remedies for diarrhea although (knock on wood) Pedro hasn't been sick in a while. He was doing the "eating grass" remedy himself a little bit throughout the Summer, but his stools have been fine lately (oh yes, I check it too and feel much better knowing that many of you do too :)

Hugs and loving paws to all.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I have been using Prozyme for several months and I do think it helps. We also keep plenty of canned pumpkin in the pantry. :). I watch Jaspers poop all the time...just in case...Oh the joys of being a doodle mom!! LOL. Thanks again and have a great day everyone!!

We've been having issues with the anal gland blockages too...the vet said it is common with dogs that have the "runs"...I think I will check out the Prozyme...Thanks for that, Kathy!  Debra, if a non-dog lover could read this particular conversation I fear we'd all be committed somewhere! Doggy stools!! :)

So far, knock on wood, we've only had the one bout of diarrhea with Eli (the one where he ate the marinated steak we were going to grill for dinner.) Since then he's been fine. I feel so funny though always checking his stools. I've never been this attentive to any other dog we've ever had.

Pepto Bismol (my phone is beginning to make up its own words). :(

On the subject of diarrhea which most youngsters seem to go through until their stomachs seem to adjust to 'living', the best things to try & stop it with are:
Canned pumpkin (natural but only available in USA)
Mashed bananas
Probiotic yoghurt (helps to promote good bacteria)
Light kaolin powder (excellent, my vet gave me this & you can also buy it on the net without a prescription)
Pepso Bisodol (pharmacy product)
Imodium (pharmacy product)
Plain boiled rice but I don't give chicken as my vet said that it is too rich for an upset tum.
Also I have noticed here a lot of diarrhea & sickness, it's like that with humans too, so I put it down to the changing seasons, cos it's the same thing every year. :(
Jo, glad to hear Gizmo is feeling better & how is his leg doing now?
