A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

Hi everyone!

i have been searching the internet for reassurance on my new puppy. When I first met her a couple weeks ago, I had already fell in love and still do......BUT! I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed she has no beard and I’m scared she may never. I was wondering if anyone could give me input or guesses on what the chances are of having a late bloomer on my hands. I didn’t meet her parents. Was just told her mom was a GR and Dad is standard poodle. All 4 pups from same litter look just like my pup. Would appreciate any reassurances or info! I bought the pup for my 7 year old who loves the wavy/curly look. We already feel like Rocksy is a part of the family and we’ve only had her 2 days!!! She is 10 weeks at this time. Thank you!

Well, actually we are dealing with a bladder infection right now! I think I caught it early and she is now on antibiotics. They did tell me it can be a reoccurring problem, so I hope not. She’s so smart tho! Has been barking at door to go outside and also knows sit and shake. Working on down. She does tend to get a bit “mouthy” in the evenings, so will have to work on that too. She’s so sweet. HUGE amount of shedding though! But I guess I can’t control that. Hoping it’s a coat change.

Dana:  How are you doing with Rocksy?  (love the spelling)  How is she coming along.  Would love to hear some puppy stories.

Oh I did want to mention something you may already know. That is to be sure and brush her fur against the grain so to speak. Her fur can become matted underneath so be sure to brush down to her skin and up her legs too. I’m sure any grooming site explains better than me! Lol just trying to help!

Thank you Suz! I feel like I’m driving myself crazy looking at pics online, trying to compare her to others. It honestly doesn’t matter at this point anyway, she’s already a part of the family, it’s just the not knowing that bothers me! Haha

Hi Dana. My Zuzu girl didn’t have a beard when we got her at 8 weeks. Nor was Her coat wavy. It’s very wavy now, not curly. I was told her coat would change and it sure did. As you can see from her photos she looks very doodly now!

Thanks so much! I’m hoping for some curl in the next few months. Right now she’s a little uneven along her back. Super soft which my daughter loves.

Both of our boys are F1's. As you can see Marley has the curlier hair and Oliver has more of the wavy hair. They'll go through a coat change. She's adorable. Enjoy they grow up so fast !

Speaking of foods, it's good to feed a high quality dog food.  Doodles tend to have sensitive stomachs and allergies.  If you search blog posts you will see what most of us like to feed.   She looks like she'll have those long doodle legs!

Thanks so much! I appreciate all the advice. We went to vet today and they went on and on about how pretty she is. Funny you mentioned the foods to avoid. I had no idea either and just read it on the vet’s wall.
