A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

Hello community. I have a 12 week old F1 Standard Goldendoodle. I have been reading a lot about exercise limits. She is full of energy and since we don’t have a fenced in yard I talk her on walks 2-3 times a day for 15-30 minutes each. She stops and sniffs and explores along the way. But all the information out there scares me that I might be doing too much. If she doesn’t get out and release energy then she gets the zoomies really bad and she has a harder time settling and resting. We also do a few training sessions and have some playtime inside each day. Another concern is the main living area of my home is on the second floor so she has to do the stairs each time we come and go. I had been carrying her, but she is getting big so fast and I can’t safely keep carrying her. I read that stairs in the first year are bad for them. Help. Please share your experience and knowledge.

Thank you for sharing. Bella seems fine on her walks. They aren’t serious walks, she leads and sniffs around. When she want to run a little we run. She’s always so energetic on her walks, but then when we get home she just melts into a sleepy puddle on the floor for a couple of hours. I’m glad to know that stairs seemed ok for Picco.

I would think as long as she's not getting worn out on the walks she should be okay.  I got Picco at 3 1/2 mon. old and was taking him out on walks daily but let him explore, sniff around - not a serious walk.  But we had lots of playtime in the house too.  At that age they aren't napping near as much and very curious.  We had stairs up till Picco was 3 yrs old and I sure don't see any problems that it may have caused!
