A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

Hi I need some assistance here,
where do you guys buy your metal crates or those baby doors? I know if I need to buy a brand new one i see online it can be a 150 dollar + for the large dog metal crates. so far, on craiglist there are only small crates available . I still have a few more months, but i thought i should do some research on the places to look for .

for apparently there is a minimum order change when it is over 500 dollars. that really sucks!
i was looking at walmart's website. teh prices are not too bad. but apparently it is only for the states. there is only limited selection for the canadian selection.

Hi Giggles,

I bought my baby gates from an online site: because the local baby store only had the gates I wanted in white (the website had them in black which is what I wanted).

Crates - I've bought them from - at the time they didn't charge extra for shipping (some places add an extra charge because of size/weight on some items - be careful - what may seem like a good deal ends up costing more due to shipping charges!).

Another idea is to check with your local animal shelter for a gently used crate. I know many people donate their used crates to the shelters, and sometimes they sell them (sometimes they use them), to help support the shelter. That's what I've done with all the crates I no longer need - donate! :)

FYI - some good sites for pet supplies:
- (extra fees if you order less than $50 :(
- (last I checked - best for shipping on heavy stuff like crates)
- (usually free shipping on flea/tick and heartworm meds)

I've had good shopping experiences with all of these places. Whenever you're shopping by catalog or online, be sure to read the fine print regarding shipping charges and minimum orders (the site has great pricing if you order more than $50 worth of stuff at a time, less than that and they hit you with a handling fee that is rediculous!).

Check out your local baby stores for those baby gates, and beware that little puppies can sometimes get caught inbetween the bars on some of those gates. Especially if the pup is a mini. My small standard at 9 weeks of age got caught between the gate and the wall (with an extension piece in there - the space was larger - she was ok, but scared), and I had to be careful until she grew more!

Good luck and have fun shopping!
