A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

So I was at Walmart today and while looking for rice flour, I came across coconut oil. Back when I was dealing with itchy pups, I remembered hearing from several that they add coconut oil to their pup's food, so I bought it. Now, for those of you who use it, can you share how much and how often you add it? Thanks!

Thanks everyone. Started adding to breakfast a couple of days ago. They LOVE it! You should see the sniffing and carrying on while I am melting and adding! Too funny! I didn't know that about the tartar Kris. What a perk!

Both Harrison and Brodie love coconut oil. I have given it to them since they were pups. 1TBLS daily mixed in their food. I usually melt it down in the microwave and mix it in the kibble. It helps with their coat as well as breath. No dog breath at all! Also helps keep tarter away. I ran out and I gotta tell you they were not very happy at their next meal... I am sure Gracie and Quinn will love it.

I've never given coconut oil to the dogs, but I use it all over me! Works wonders for dry skin and hair.

I'll have to try coconut oil for a change.  I've been doing the teaspoon of honey and it's been helping with the itching.

Hi, how are Gracie and Quinn doing?

Regarding the coconut oil, I am giving Pedro about a tablespoon every morning in the kongs (2) that I fill with kibble and then I spread the coconut oil on top. He loves it (almost as much as pb) and though he's still having "itchies", I've heard so many good things about it that I guess it can't hurt.

Hope you're having a lovely holiday season! hugs and loving paws!
