Hi Everyone...

Awhile back, someone asked for some summer reading and I suggested a Spencer Quinn book about a dog and his adventures.  Well, Chet is back with a new book and I thought I'd reaffirm how great these books are.  We all appreciate Pedro's romps with Alessandra...these are kinda the same, the world as viewed from a dog.

Chet is a huge, 100 pound mutt who was rescued from a pound by the police.  He went through K-9 training, but flunked out on the last day.  He wound up with Bernie Little, the ex-cop who is the owner of the Little Detective Agency.  Together, they solve crimes in LA (from Chet's perspective as the narrator of the books), specializing in missing persons.

No real need to start from the beginning, but Chet often refers back to previous adventures when his mind wanders from his current adventures.  So...check them out...if you like Pedro and Alessandra, you'll love Chet and Bernie:

first book :  Dog on It

then:            Thereby Hangs a Tail

                     To Fetch a Thief

The Dog Who Knew Too Much

                      A Fistful of Collars

and now:        The Sound and the Furry  (I'm starting it today...)

Chet and Bernie are sort of like the first Harry Potter...no F-type words, no R or PG ratings...interesting detective story...good for pre-teens or adults...you'll like them, Lois...

These books are more light reading than Marley & Me type, Alessandra.  Actually more comedy than anything else.  Worse part is when Chet got lost, picked up by a biker gang, and dumped at a shelter and almost put down....no worries, Bernie's girl friend comes to the rescue...and his experience with the bikers helped him solve the case !  (spoiler alert, spoiler alert !)

Thanks for the reminder Bruce, I will look for these books because I've been trying to find similar books from the dog's perspective (as Pedro likes me to write for him so much) but I have run into the "Marley and Me" type which are wonderful, but SO sad!

Also, on another blog entry, I was recommending this book and I will again:

It's not so much a story/novel, but a book about the behaviour of dogs and how they relate to us written by a scientist (can't remember what is her exact specialty) in a very light and easy to read way and I've found it interesting and leading me to interpret Pedro's behaviours in a different light. I'm halfway through it but I highly recommend it.
