A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

Things have been so busy, hectic and exhausting here for many months. Paddy Waggin' came home to live with us at 8 weeks old in early June and shortly after that my hubby's health began deteriorating drastically, as many of you know. It was devastating and, also, as many of you know, my beloved husband died here at home in the early morning hours of December 14, 2013. We both donated our bodies to the University of Buffalo's Anatomical Gift Division, so there was no funeral director involved to order the usual "Christian-type holy cards" that you quite often see at a wake.  So my son, Billy, and I put together the In Loving Memory Remembrance/Celebration of Life" card attached here (I think). Last Saturday, we had the service.  I was a nervous wreck.  I worked very hard to make it special (not patting myself on the back, but wanted something very, very special for my very special guy).  Many people commented on how beautiful it I guess I did something right. We have a fairly large Church and it was packed...I couldn't believe the number of people there.  Now, still much to end to paperwork involved.  Some family members still in town and are coming over later, so I had better get moving. After tomorrow, it will be just Paddy & I alone, again.  Not too many folks around during the past two months since my hubby's death.  I was fighting some severe depression and this has been one of the worst winters we've had in WNY in years. I have been away from this site for so long. Hope things finally calm down and I can get back to visiting with all of you...such a wonderful "support" group.  Paddy says, "Woof." That means Hi and Thank You for being here for "us."

I saw this and it is beautiful!

JoAnne, I can so relate to what you are going through.  That is a very beautiful memorial for your late husband.  You did a wonderful job on it ... I'm sure he would be very proud.  I understand the loneliness that sets in after a loved one passes.  Everyone gets back into their own routine and you are left to your own memories and sadness.  It will get better, I promise.  I'm glad you have Paddy and that he was there for both you and your husband.  Look forward and keep your wonderful memories always in your heart - but don't allow those memories to hold you down.  Rise up and push forward ... know your husband would want you to do that.  My heartfelt sympathy to you.

JoAnn this is a truly beautiful tribute. I am so happy to see your post as I have been thinking about you and wondering how you are. Thinking of Paddy too, how he came into your life in time to know and love your husband, and now to carry on with you. I do hope you are finding comfort and peace in your many memories, and in knowing that your friends here share your sadness, and are here to support you when you need it. Many hugs and warm thoughts. Much love, Kathy

I think you know JoAnn that even at a distance we're with you and we hug you every day and we know that Paddy represents his Doodle Cousins in comforting you and hopefully make you laugh with his antics and Miss Murphy and her Angel Cousins walk with Mr. Willie and watch over you. Lots of love and loving paws.

What a beautiful tribute indeed!! May the wonderful memories bring comfort to your heart and may you be keenly aware that Jesus Christ himself is holding you in the palm of His hands. Faith is perhaps most important during the times of loss in our life. We have missed you and look forward to visiting lots in the days ahead.
God bless!!

JoAnn, I am so sorry for your loss.  You've written a most moving tribute, a celebration of your husband's life.  It's beautiful.  A big hug to you and Paddy and we're always here for you.

What an amazing man your husband was, JoAnn! Your tribute does a beautiful job of describing what seems a remarkable life.  I know that your loss is profound and my thoughts and prayers will be with you as you go through the difficult grieving process.  Hug your Paddy Waggin' often - our beloved friends can give us solace sometimes when no human can!  Hugs from Dianne and Dulcie.

Not much I can add except to repeat that this is a beautiful tribute filled with love. I'm especially fond of the poem, Immortality. I'm grateful that you've posted this JoAnne as I know we've all been thinking about you. We are here for you as you move through your grief. I pray that one day your light will shine again and your memories will make you smile with joy. Hugs to both you and Paddy Waggin'.
