Are two dogs better than one? Opinions please.

So...a very dear friend of mine manages a local humane society/shelter, and today I went by to drop off a dehumidifier that we donated. Well...I met "Woofie" a very young (likely about a year or so) Irish Wolfhound--mix maybe. He's not HUGE, but he's very, very big. He was found just two days ago along the river and he's in rough shape. Pretty skinny, infected eyes, ragged coat, skin irritations, a hematoma on his elbow... Here's the thing though, I played with him for a short while, and he is an absolute doll-baby. All he wanted was love and belly rubs. He sits and goes "down," so someone did or does care about him, but it doesn't seem that anyone is looking for him. Bottom line, he melted my heart, and I can't get him off my mind, and I am battling with whether or not to adopt him if he remains unclaimed, and I am at the point where I am considering taking Gracie to meet him.

So, opinions/experiences please on adopting a second dog with the idea that we have had Gracie for almost 5 years now, and she has always been a very doted upon "only child."

Change of plans. I'm heading out the door to get Quinn NOW. We will stop at my vet for checkup and blood-work, vaccines, etc. and then he will be neutered by my vet next Tuesday. My husband is at work so I am solo. My stomach is in knots! Stay tuned!!!!

I was just wondering about you and Dulcie and Trixie! It's reassuring to hear they are so happy together. I will be devastated if Gracie seems at all offended or upset by this addition. Her happiness is very important to us and I am praying for a happy union.

P.S.  I see the wolfhound, of course, but also think those eyes look awfully poodly! Really would not be surprised if he were a doodle!

CJ, he is just adorable. I know this will be a wonderful experience and he could not have found a better home!  I am still amazed that Dulcie is not jealous at all of Trixie, and I get the biggest kick out of watching them tear around in the yard in the mornings - it has really made Dulcie's life more exciting and I bet the same will happen for Gracie!  Keep us posted!

Wow-This pic came up really big! Here's Quinn just a couple of days ago. His eyes are almost cleared up and his hair is starting to come back in. He looks pretty great from this angle, but the parts you can't see are the worst. He weighs 87 lbs. now--he came in at 82--he should be well over 100. Love, love this nose! Now I'll have TWO fabulous noses to kiss!

What a spectacular, handsome boy!!  You can tell he has a wonderful personality just by looking at that smile!  I'm so happy for you and for him!!
