A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

My 6 month old puppy was just diagnosed with megaesophugus which is a dialated esophugus  I was wondering if this is common in goldendoodles and if anyone has any advice as to how to help my puppy Im doing all the vet said to do but she still suffers after she eats. Any advice would be appreciated

Saw a big Shepard Mix type dog who had this.  He was at Best Friends Animal Society sanctuary in Utah.  The caregiver there had to hand feed him all his meals.  She sat in a bar stool type chair and the dog had his legs up on her lap.  After the meal, she kept him there for a few minutes.  Seemed to work well.

Its a chore, but well worth the effort for the love of a dog.

Never heard of this.  Just another thing to worry about.  We're pretty sure that Pemon has allergies and we are trying to change things.  But I'm so sorry your Doodle is sick.  Reading the article that Laurie sent is very positive since your Doodle is only a puppy.  Hope all turns out well.  Keep us posted.

Teri, I once saw a show on this and the dogs were fed in these make shift highchairs.  Apparently they must be sitting up when they eat and stay like that for a while after they have eaten.  Many dogs with this diagnosis have done well eating this way. I'm sure your vet has suggested this already.    There were all different breeds that had this problem so I don't think it is  doodle specific. Try googling the chairs on line.   Good luck and all the best with you and your puppy.
