First afternoon and evening with Faith was AMAZING!!!!!!!!  Faith got home around 5pm, she went pee on the newspaper we had laid out on the deck and then played for a bit and then we placed her in her crate for a nap, I laid down infront of it and she fell asleep!  She slept then for 1 hour!  Bedtime was around 11pm and she slept ALLLLL the way through until 5:30pm it was me who was up every half hour listening for whimpers or waiting for the call to go pee but nothing!  She is now in her crate sleeping for her morning nap!  She has been such a joy and we haven't had her for a whole day yet!  Caleb my 6 year old son and her get along tremendously and I don't think she would have fit in so fast if it wasn't for him!  Thanks for all of the prayers!

Oh, so she's an escape artist, LaWonda!  Look out ... these Doodles are soooo very smart!

I am very happy for you!!! My little girl did not sleep through the night and busted out of her crate and went to get a drink of water. :)

I'm so excited Faith has arrived and doing so well.  Sorry, I'm a little behind on the dates - Today is Friday.  lol.  Gizmo was HORRIBLE with mouthing.  I was at my wits end, but he grew up and now he's better.  Not perfect at 9 months old, but better.  Now he knows NO when he tries to put his mouth on us.  He really learned not to bite/nip/mouth at our doggie daycare/boarding place.  We went on vacation for a couple weeks and when we came home he was sooooooooo much better.  He still tries from time-to-time, but stops as soon as we call him out on it.

A six year old is going to be perfect with a doodle.  Our grandchildren are 6 & 9 and Gizmo adores them.  At first they were afraid of him because they didn't see him often and when they did he nipped and chased them.  Now, he plays with them.  I have a video posted of them playing King on the mountain with Gizmo.  They had soooooo much fun that day.  I'm sure your son will love growing up with his doodle and vice versa.  Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy!

Sounds like a good idea Dona.  Never thought of that.

Alessandra, Mark uses the "ouch" method now and Pemon will stop and just look at him.  Remember Mark loves to rough him us, so it is Mark's fault!

Has anyone tried the "blowing" method to stop the mouthing/biting/nipping?  I found that when he is biting me I blow in his face, just a short quick blow.  HE HATES IT!!  He stops what he's doing immediately and gets  I don't do it often because Im afraid he will associate it with playing with me. Any opinions?

Congratulations April and family! Sounds like things are coming along very well -including dealing with the "mouthing" thing... those puppy teeth hurt. What we did was yell really loudly "OUCH!" and most times it startled him that it made him stop... then a toy or something else to distract him, some other times I was just grateful that he napped so often because he would terrorize me...! I know, hard to believe of Pedro who is almost a saint (a loud and vocal saint, however, that has NOT changed a bit).

Faith, welcome to your home, seems that you have chosen your humans wisely!

Yeah!! I'm so glad she is finally home with you. It sounds like you are all off to a good start! I can't wait to see photos and hear more about her adventures.

Yes April you are doing wonderful.  You are in for a beautiful year of puppism (I think I made up a word. )  We are all here for you, remember we all did it!  Have fun, enjoy, patience and lot's of love.

I was thinking the same thing too that the newspaper would teach her that its ok to go potty there!  I was afraid of grass though because she just got her first vaccinations yesterday as well so I'm afraid of her getting into something and getting sick without me knowing it!  Although we just came in from a 2 minute walk around our yard with halter and leash and she did awesome with that, she peed and pooped on the grass then!  Thanks everyone with the advice!  Yes her "mouthing" was getting stronger as she started getting used to us but we firmly said "no bite" and gave her a toy to chew on instead with taking our hand away from her!
