A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

Ok I'm obsessed. I've read three books. Read all I can on Facebook. My breeder just posted pics of the litter last night. I should be getting my picture of our puppy this week. I cannot cannot wait! This will be our first doodle and ice already found doggie allowed beaches, puppy class, etc and she's not here yet. Question- when taking her outside, is it ok to take walks? I read until the pups are fully vaccinated be careful with walks. Should I just keep her in our yard? Thanks!!!!

all good advice.   now is a good time to introduce a collar and leash (within her home bounds - sidewalk or driveway.)  Roll a ball instead of letting her chew the leash.

So exciting! Definitely wait until your pup had all its shots . Enjoy your time together!

You need time for you and your pup to get acquainted and start bonding anyway. The pup needs to get use to your voice and wearing a collar & leash before getting out. There is no rush to get out and walk or train at such a young age.  Just enjoy some private time together before conquering the world!

Wait until she is fully vaccinated. Also stay away from PetsMart, PetCo and other pet stores. A lot of people take their dogs in there and they are not vaccinated and may times sick. Our therapy dog trainer warned us to stay away. Service dog trainers tell you the same thing... Don't worry you will have plenty of time to walk, walk and walk, oh and walk some more.. So excited for you.. Hint: Two doodles are better than one !

Yay! So exciting!  We were planning on waiting a bit longer for our doodle, but we just couldn't resist our Bo, he is perfect for us.  Our vet also recommended waiting till vaccines were done before taking Bo too far from home.  Congrats on your upcoming addition, can't wait to see pictures!

So exciting! We were careful about walks too, besides they can't go far without wearing out, you'll end up carrying her. She'll give you plenty of exercise in the house! So much fun.

Our vet says to be safe, to wait until they have all their shots. I was counting down the days before I got my two also.

Hi Carin, very exciting times for sure. Happy for you! As for walks, I would suggest that you keep them to a minimum, especially any interaction with other dogs until she is fully vaccinated. Otherwise, patience, consistency and lots of love, it'll be fun!
