Just wanting to share the fun we are having with a new game... Nose Work! Wolfhound, Hazel, was our motivation. She is a very fearful girl and along with all the things we have been doing to socialize her, it was suggested that we try nose work, so we did, and of course what one does, we all do! So Dwayne is handling Gracie and I am handling Hazel and we are all having a great time. After years of agility and obedience training, it took Gracie a bit to realize that we weren't going to be…Continue
Hello to old friends and to the many who have joined this wonderful group. I fell way short on my promise to be more attentive--it's been almost a year since I last posted. Since that time, we lost our dear sweet boy, Quinn. He passed suddenly and unexpectedly right before Christmas last year; we were in Florida. I was shattered and continue to miss him terribly. He was truly my heart hound and I am quite sure I will never have that kind of bond again. While he and Gracie were never cuddly…Continue
It's been waaaay too long since I've posted in this community, and I apologize for that. I have thought of you all, but just haven't had the energy to touch base. We've been on quite a roller coaster for over 6 months now. Gracie is GREAT! She just turned 8 and you would think she just turned 2. She is healthy and happy and full of life and love and energy. Quinn... well, Quinn can't seem to catch a break. In the spring, he was diagnosed with immune-mediated thrombocytopenia (ITP) and we…Continue
Just voted for Pedro in the photo contest and at the moment it's a tie! If you haven't voted, time's a wasting!!!
Our first GREAT EVENT is that Quinn turned THREE on Sunday :) Since he's on a restricted diet at the moment, we couldn't do the traditional cake and nice-cream, so we went with a new big stuffy. In the last year or so, Quinn has transitioned from loving to eat his stuffies to loving to sleep with them. So this large stuffy bone turned out to be a well-appreciated birthday prezy. As you can see, he is testing all possibilities. I'm sure there will be more to come... LOL…Continue
I hesitated to post this, there has been so much sadness, but I am hoping this story has a happy ending.
Quinn just came home after spending 3 days in critical care (yes again). This time it is not his seizures. He was admitted due to protein loss and a platelet count of zero!! These are the results of a multitude of tests:
Normal kidney function and liver function;…Continue
Hello EVERYONE! Some real traumas seem to have brought us back together... hurricanes... and some very terrifying health issues for humans and hounds alike! But it is so heartwarming to once again see the familiar names. It's good to see some new members as well, and even more good (I know... poor grammar :P) to see some of the veterans adding well-wishes and support to these new members.…Continue
Hi Doodle Friends - First, Quinn is currently doing well--hopefully headed in a positive direction. . .
Just over a week ago, Quinn had an early AM seizure. I was disappointed when it started because he had been on a long stretch without, however, the disappointment turned to terror when shortly thereafter, he had a second seizure, and then a third. We raced to the nearest ER where he then had a fourth. They got him hooked up to a sedative IV, and he was on that for 6 hours. After a…Continue
Hello my Doodle Friends! I can see that I am not alone in my extended absence from this terrific group, and I am wondering if maybe we can all give a big breath of life back into this community. I also see several posts from new members and I feel sad that they aren't getting the warmth, friendship, and support that we all experienced not too terribly long ago.
Hoping we are not all too busy to give it a go!!?? I'm game if you are!
A big hello from Gracie and Quinn. Hope you…Continue
Once again, I've been gone from here for too long. I need to do some catching up, but I wanted to take a quick minute to share an upcoming event that we are attending. It's called Doodles in Dewey. It's an annual event held at Dewey Beach, Delaware. Hundreds of doodles and their humans attend. We have been wanting to go for several years, and now that we are retired, we can!! Anyone else live close enough??
Here's the link:…Continue
He did it! Quinn passed his Therapy Dog certification test! I am so proud of him :) It was quite a busy environment--about a dozen dogs and twice as many people. The testing took about 2 hours, and he was an amazingly (and surprisingly!) good boy! So now I have to get the paperwork signed by the vet and get registered and we'll hit the road! I'm looking forward to going back…Continue
Thinking about Grace and Pemon and Mark and hoping that all is well. If you see this Grace, I know we would all love to hear from you! Hugs your way!!!
CathieJo, Gracie, and Quinn
I may have shared this once before, but am not positive. This article was in "Doodle News" earlier this year. Some of you may remember that we learned the hard/expensive way--Gracie broke off a molar while chewing on an antler. If you haven't seen this article, you may enjoy the read and the education :)…Continue
