Mommy is stepping in to post today. ~Sunny Ray
It has been a very busy summer. I lost my job, but I'm getting ready to start a new one. Will be working 12 hour days and probably won't be able to post much, but will try to keep in touch as much as I can.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this summer while I was off work. I "unhooked" from the computer some and spent a lot of time outside with our boys. It has spoiled me! I absolutely love having the extra time with Justan and…Continue
What a busy summer!!! All of a sudden my Mommy has been home all the time! She said something about looking for a new job, but I thought her job was playing with me. So I'm not sure about that. All I know is my home has changed colors and all the furniture got moved around. I do so love having Mommy at home, though. She takes me to the park more, goes ouside and plays with me all the time, and I am so tired at night that when she says it's time to go to bed, I already have my blankie in my…Continue
My husband has been working 3rd shift this past week and Sunny Ray has been in rare form. I have had to take him for extra long walks to burn up energy and he follows me EVERYWHERE. Stands right outside the bathroom door while I take my showers... sits on my feet if I'm sitting down... and sleeping right beside me on the his now-chewed-up new bed.
Last night Harold got off work early and came home at 2 am. When Harold unlocked the front door I heard Sunny Ray bark. Harold said, "It's…Continue
Sunny Ray was sick all weekend. Well, kinda. I had to do a LOT of cleaning in the yard and a little in the house. Did I mention A LOT????? Other than that, he was his normal, jovial, bouncy self. Eating like a horse until I made him fast for 20 hours. Yeah... that's kind of like trying to get a cat to stay away from catnip. Sunny Ray tried counter surfing and we had to move the trash can to the top of the washer. He would just sit.... and stare at me while we ate... with those big, beautiful…Continue
I can't believe I am one year old now!! I remember it like it was yesterday... my human Mommy and Daddy came and picked me up. I was already 8 weeks old, but don't remember a whole lot before that. Other than I know I loved my real Mommy and Daddy... and I had a BUNCH of brothers and sisters!
Then I went home with my humans. My Mommy held me most of the way home and…Continue
After this morning, I'm pretty sure I'm Beta in my household. LOL...
I have been diligently working on Sunny Ray's leash training. If he starts to pull, I change directions. If I stop, he sits and heels. He's gotten to where he walks loosely, but still not beside or behind me. Then came this morning....
We went for our normal early morning walk. When we started to walk past the 3 mini-weenies on our block, they started barking and Sunny Ray started pulling. I changed direction.…Continue
I got Justan (Golden Retriever) when he was 8 weeks old. HE picked ME. Just waddled his fat butt over and plopped down on my feet while our kids were playing with the other puppies. Well, that made the decision.
Justan was the easiest dog to train. He was very "proper" about everything. He would Sit perfectly, lie down, Come on command, doesn't bark unless startled, no digging, and just knew instantly what he needed to do. I knew I was lucky with him... But don't get me wrong. He…Continue
We can tell it's spring time in Tennessee. The trees are budding, flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, the grass had to be mowed, and we have holes in the back yard. This past weekend Sunny Ray decided to give my mulch and Crepe Myrtle trees a break... and started digging his way to China. Found a nice hole in the yard that would fit a small cat (we're keeping out eyes out!). We know it was him (and not Justan) because when I looked out the patio door, Sunny looked up and he was…Continue
Sunny keeps scratching at his ears and loves for me to rub them. I clean them and have put ear mite medicine in them. We have even had the hair trimmed/pulled out of them. He refuses to let me do it, so we have the groomer do it. Does anyone else have this issue... and if so, what do you do?
Ok... so Sunny Ray is developing some strange habits. And I'd like to know I'm not alone here. Please tell me if your Doodle does anything like this, or (gasp) even worse....
1) He makes a mad dash for me when I get out of the shower.... just to lick the water off my toes and feet.
2) When he greets people, he immediately puts his head at the top of their thighs to walk between their legs and hopefully so he can get a full body scratching while he…Continue
