Hi Doodle friends
Looking for your opinions. I think Spencer has finally done it. Super counter surfer and snitch extraordinaire must have swallowed something that doesn't go through easily. Since this morning, he has been trying to poop with no results. He isn't particularly distressed, laid on the floor all through dinner quite peacefully. Surfed before dinner as always to see what was on the counter. Only unusual behaviour was barking when I came home from work to let me know he…Continue
What I have learned today
1. I don't know how to turn on the inside water valve to operate the hose outside after winter shutdown.
2. When you turn the valve on wrong, the water pours out on the other side of the house where you can't see or hear it - lots and lots of water!
3. My neighbours are missing a bag of topsoil that they had stored against the fence
4. 2 bricks is not enough to deter a determined topsoil thief from tunnelling under…Continue
Spencer is about 2 years younger than Elliott. So when we first got Spencer, Elliott was still somewhat into puppy challenges. We called them Jaws and Baby Jaws.
Since we picked them both up on Saturday at their "Auntie Dawn's", the kennel where they always go and seem very happy, Baby Jaws has returned. Spencer has been an absolute demon. We don't have to be out of the house, or even out of the room. He is just grabbing random stuff and taking it away to chew. The list goes on and…Continue
All our dear doodle friends know how hard I been trying to make a pro-fe-shunal career for myself. I had to drop out of bedience skool when I was little cuz my grandma broked her hip and then my Mommy had to look after her and we dint get done bedience skool. My mom said I was sorta acting like a ditsy doodle at the time, so things rolled along and we never went back. Course, I is a very smart doodle like all of you, and I already know all that sit, stay, come stuff. Sometimes I even does…Continue
So a while back, Meranda wrote about Mable barking all the time. She asked why. Everybody here knows that us Doodles are great barkers, but what makes us bark? Spencer and me started a list and we want you to add to it.
Why do Doodles Bark?
1. Because.......ya just because
2. Because we are really really good barkers.
3. We has to look after our humans an proteck them.
4. Sometimes it's a contest. Who can be loudest? Who can make Mom yell first? Who has the…Continue
We got some new toys that you guys might like. Mom was so happy with our first ones that today she went and got another one for each of us, cuz we really really likes them. Spencer has been chewing and chewing his, and we even took them with us to camp for a whole week and they don't even look used hardly. You know Spencer - he's chewed up everything there is, 3 pairs of scissors in just the last month. He hasn't even dog-eared these toys - haha!! Mommy puts nice treats in them for us.…Continue
Some of you may recall our story about a trip to the vet and the shannanigancs caused by my boys that resulted in a needle in my foot and dog barf all over the vet's shoe. As funny as that was, I was concerned about the vet. He just didn't seem like he was banging on all cylinders. I wondered if he was showing signs of early dementia, but dismissed it because I'm hypersensitive to that sort of stuff because of my job.
So today we went to the vet for Spencer's vaccines, and we…Continue
All of Harrison's posts have reminded me, I need to ask everyone a question.
We are thinking of having an unground swimming pool put in (whenever we dig out from the huge snowbanks and thaw ourselves out for spring and summer LOL.)
Some of the pool installers have been trying to get us to go with a concrete pool, saying that the dogs will likely damage a vinyl liner. Difference in price is astronomical.
Actually, our boys have never had the chance to go swimming. I…Continue
You would have thought sumthin terrible happened for all the fuss they made, like a cat burglar or sumthin.
My Dad don't feel good today. He says he's cold or sumthin, but he's wearin shorts, so go figger. Anyway, tonight, sted of him cooking dinner like always, Mom told Dad she would make sum thin - ruh-oh! That never happens so I thought I better keep a close eye. Mom put a pan on the stove and got these things out of the fridge. They were white and not really round, sort of round…Continue
Does anyone else have a dog that persists in licking another dog's ears?
Elliott is obsessed. He pushes Spencer's ear flap back and then licks the outer part of his inner ear for endless periods of time. He isn't picky which ear, will lick the ear that is closer to him.
Spencer, who is usually the ADHD poster puppy, just sits there still as can be and lets him do it. He never sits that long for anything!
As far as I can tell, there is nothing wrong with Spencer's ears.…Continue
Last evening our doorbell rang around 5.30 p.m. I wasn't going to answer it because it's so embarrassing when Elliott and Spencer act like a couple of junk yard dogs, barking and carrying on so much you can't hear yourself think. But, since it was early, I thought it might be kids collecting canned goods or something other than a sales person. So I went to the door.
The boys were in fine form, jumping and barking up complete bedlam, as I opened the door just far enough to wedge my…Continue
Just the last few days I have been thinking that Spencer, at not quite 15 months, is finally growing out of some of his puppy naughtiness. As usual I spoke too soon.............just got these back from him.............he seemed surprised that I wanted them!…Continue
This blog may contain "graphic" imagery and "coarse" language - viewer discretion is advised - LOL
For anyone concerned about this, the story ends happily for the dog involved........
A few days ago when Curly was first sick, I posted that his story was reminding me of a story from long, long ago involving my first bouvier…Continue
