Hello, I am new to this blog and a new/first time goldendoodle parent!  Benjiman is 5 months old and it has only been a month since I adopted him (although it feels like a lifetime). Benjiman had a ear infection, skin infection and has currently allergies. The vet suggested changing his food and cutting chicken out of his diet completely. The vet suggested I try Nature’s balances limited ingredients, however he refuses to eat it. Any suggestions for a picky puppy with allergies???????

Life Changes

Hello to old friends and to the many who have joined this wonderful group. I fell way short on my promise to be more attentive--it's been almost a year since I last posted. Since that time, we lost our dear sweet boy, Quinn. He passed suddenly and unexpectedly right before Christmas last year; we were in Florida. I was shattered and continue to miss him terribly. He was truly my heart hound and I am quite sure I will never have that kind of bond again. While he and Gracie were never cuddly…

Dog food suggestions

My mini golden doodle is 11 months old and she has stopped eating the Purina Puppy Chow so I tried Purina Pro Plan Savor shredded blend (lamb & rice formula).

The problem is she will not eat the hard kibbles in the blend. She will only eat the soft lamb pieces.

Any suggestions???

Looking for a possible new large goldendoodle!

We are possibly looking for a new large goldendoodle after ours has now left us.  Our wonderful dog Chester, really the 'world's greatest dog' has passed away now after ten years of the best and happiest life.   He suffered a large tumor in his liver, but never lessened his happy spirit and his magnetic impact on others.  He was a very large F1 goldendoodle and weighed 90 pounds.  Very tall and leggy, as you can see in his pictures.  I am offering this posting to ask if anyone knows of…

The BS surrounding the Grain Free Lie

There are over700 MILLION dogs in the U.S. The FDA is INVESTIGATING "500" (as in 5 hundred) IF there is a link!! I do not know how ethically the FDA can release any info on such miniscule numbers that aren't even validated so I smell a rat such as Hill's paying off someone. Also a lady posted on here that her 14 1/2 year old dog died from heart disease & she's blaming grain free food!!! Lady, give your head a shake your dog was the equivalent of "100"+ years old!! Pretty sure she died if… Continue

Feeding Grain Free? Read this article!

Hi All,

As some of you know, my dog Lily passed away a year ago at age 14.5.  A few weeks after her passing, the FDA came out with an alert regarding Grain Free diets causing heart problems.

There is now a report available at:

Feeding Puppy Food

Our Sadie is 1 year and 4 months old. We are still feeding her Blue Wilderness puppy food. The store where we buy her food said they recommended feeding her the puppy blend until she is 2. I wanted to check here with the experts in doodleland to get your opinion as to if I should continue feeding her this until she is 2, or begin the transition to adult food now.

puppy xray

Puppy Xray       I'm unable to drag the photo into this blog   (link below)  published only the article:

Look at how far the bones have to grow before they become a proper bony joint! This is why you should never let puppies jump, walk up/down stairs, over exercise or over train. Doing to much impact activity at a young age will cause serious issues later in life, or even at a young age as hip dysplasia and other orthopaedic conditions are rising in puppies!…

Doodle classifications

Can anyone explain how the classifications work for goldendoodles (i.e. FB, FB1, etc.....)?  I believe the stud for our new pup was a doodle (however, do not know its classification) and the bitch a std poodle.  Any explanation is greatly appreciated.  Joe

Hello community. I have a 12 week old F1 Standard Goldendoodle. I have been reading a lot about exercise limits. She is full of energy and since we don’t have a fenced in yard I talk her on walks 2-3 times a day for 15-30 minutes each. She stops and sniffs and explores along the way. But all the information out there scares me that I might be doing too much. If she doesn’t get out and release energy then she gets the zoomies really bad and she has a harder time settling and resting. We also do… Continue

Will She Doodle?

Here is Maya at 8 weeks.  Her coat seems to be getting fuller / longer but her face looks all retriever.  Anyone have a doodle that looked similar as a puppy?  Any ideas on what she will look like when she's older?

Health concern...

I have a 17 month old female goldendoodle. This past November she had to stay several days at our vet clinic and was diagnosed with Addison’s disease. Since then she had been on prednisone. We tried to reduce the meds over the past few weeks and she has had another episode of not eating or drinking and has become dehydrated. Is anyone familiar with addison’s? Any insight would be appreciated.

New Mini Goldendoodle owner

Hi all! My husband, 2 sons (10 and 12), and myself are the new owners of a Mini Goldendoodle named Cali. We are so excited, she is so sweet. Cali is 11 weeks old tomorrow. We are crate training and working on housebreaking her as well. 2 days a week I am out of the house for work for almost 12 hours. This will start next week. Currently, Cali is in a crate that sits inside of a larger pen. I had been keeping the crate door closed and getting up frequently during the night to let her to the wee… Continue

Our Bleu Boy

Our pup, an Aussiedoodle, turned five months old yesterday. He has been a handful. We love him dearly and have him enrolled in a foundations/manners class in Wilmington. He has also had some one-on-one personal training. I pray he responds well. We’re retired and he is very high energy. Bleu is both beautiful and loving. He has definitely won our hearts. Thank you for allowing our family to be part of your community.

God bless all of you,

Pat Sandel

Itchy Doodle Advice

Hi everyone! Seeking some advice for Clover’s itchyness. She’s been extremely itchy lately (all over her body) and we cannot find the underlying factor. I’ve changed all cleaning products, her diet/treats (protein/brand), bathing products, and she has no signs of fleas. Has anyone experienced this? I’ve had a few vet appointments in which all resulted in the same answers: food / enviormental allergies or dry skin due to the winter.

Has anyone experienced the following? If so - please… Continue
