Thanks for the Compliments

Thanks for the compliments on Sunny!   The problem is that he knows he is cute so I constantly tell him: "Just remember Sunny, you can't get through life on your looks alone."

Feeding bowls question

Hi Everyone

We are looking for new feeding bowls. I have used ceramic bowls for a long time, mostly because the weight of them is the only thing to counteract certain doodles dancing in their bowls!! (no names mentioned Elliott!) I would love to be able to have a few that stack nicely and you just use a clean one each feed and run them through the dishwasher. However, I've tried just stainless bowls on the placemat and we have a terrible mess (don't we Elliott?).

I have found…

I am supposed to be a "Mini-Doodle"...

Oh my goodness; what a big boy!!!   I was told my doodle is 1/2 Miniature Poodle and 1/2 English Golden Retriever but he is just under 20 ponds at 14 weeks.   Do you remember what your gorgeous dood weighed at that age?   Thanks so much...Kathy in Williams

Pedro’s New Year’s Resolutions

1. I will train my humans to take me to the park more often. We can all use more exercise!

2. I will not bark at my Mommy and Daddy when they’re watching the Food Network, they usually get good food ideas from it and I end up tasting some of them. Sometimes. Especially when it’s turkey.

3. I will not wipe my bum on the rug anymore. I’ll get Mommy to wipe my bum with the human puppy wipes she got, they’re softer than the rug.

4. I will not…

Love is...........

Love is.......... Sharing the dogs beds with no blankets or pillow in a 6 x 4' utility room on Christmas night! Mummy, Milo says he's sorry that he woke the household up at 2am with constsnt barking but he really didn't want us to be on our own in a dark strange house, when you were just up the stairs in a lovely comfy warm bed. We did try to keep you warm when you came & lay down with us, me with my long curly coat pushed against you & Milo with his ear on hour cheek trying to keep… Continue

Dulcie's First Christmas and her growth 12-26-12

Well, a late Merry Christmas to everybody!  Mommy has been SO busy because her almost litter mates and my Grandmommy have been visiting, so she hasn’t had much time to write or comment or even worse, to play with me.  But her littermates smell and look like her, so it’s been almost like having three mommies!   It’s been very interesting the last few days, because all…

My grand daughter Abigail is still lovin' her puppy.  Though she has had to learn some self-defense tactics.

Abigail  is just new to walking, and she was walking down the hallway and saw Molly coming in her direction with a couple of quick steps she moved to the wall and placed both hands on it to stabilizer herself for the impending greeting.  lol

Another time she looked like she deliberately fell over and was looking expectantly for her puppy to come crawl on her like Molly…

Any advice

I would love to hear any suggestions, tips or warnings that someone like me who is new to the puppy scene, and the doodle world might benefit from.

I would hate to think that in my ignorance I might be engaging in some bad puppy parenting (such as giving our puppy  dangerous levels of exercise).

OR, maybe you just have some fun, or cool tip to make doodling a greater pleasure.  :)

Snowballs in fur

Hi everyone and merry Christmas! We have a lot of snow on the ground and Finnegan loves it! He burrows in it and will roll all around in it and when he comes in he is literally full of snowballs on his fur. I try to remove them with my hands and then towel him dry. Thinking of a snowsuit or something to protect his fur and skin. Anyone have any experience or suggestions with this? We limit his time outside but he is constantly ringing his bells to go outside lol! Thanks very much!

Les Poochs Brush??

I'm on a roll . . . With the winter months, I'm letting Gracie's coat get a little longer, which means lots of grooming or lots of matts. Anybody have any experience with Les Poochs' brushes?

Lesser of all evils for flea; tick; heartworm prevention??

Hi Everyone and Happy Holidays!! I've been away from this group for quite some time now, but it's reassuring to see the same familiar names. I hope all are well! I am here today for your caring expertise . . . Gracie needs a regime for prevention of fleas and ticks (both prevalent in our area) and heartworm. I have been round and round on this . . . was using Interceptor (now no longer available) and Frontline (proved to be not 100% reliable). Switched to Heartguard and Frontline and we are…

An Almost Disaster and a Cautionary Note

I am posting this in hopes of helping others to avoid my almost disaster from yesterday.  I have been doing major house purging in preparation for the holidays and have been carrying loads to our local charity and have had many bags to throw away.  I have always taught Dulcie to wait at the front door until I go out first and have never had an issue with it.  Yesterday I had two large bags to take out the door and had just picked up the first one (leaving the 2nd one blocking the door) when…

A dream come true (and lots to learn)

Okay, maybe you might think I don't dream very big.  And you would probably be right.  I never fail to be surprised at the goodness God has shown toward me.

I saw a Doodle for the first time a few years back and it was love at first sight.  A perfect family dog but what a price tag.  ouch.  It certainly wasn't in my budget.

But this year my employer gave me a generous Christmas bonus, and the timing was ideal for my daughter's household.

My daughter's husband was…

Sandy Hook Elementary School

Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38

When 20 beautiful children stormed through Heaven's gate.

Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.

They could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.

They were filled with such joy; they didn't know what to say.

They remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.

"Where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a…

Finnegan's Diarrhea (what a title!)

Thank you all for your responses and help!  Things are finally starting to calm down with Finnegan and he is no longer being visited by the diarrhea monster!  I did not give him his additional wormer and don't think I'm going to do that as long as his specimens remain clear.  I am also changing Vets since I was not happy with the fact that they didn't want to see him but just prescribed another dose of the medication and said to feed him a bland diet!  I was really worried about him…

Laugh of the Day

I think we can all relate to this one!   I just love that innocent look when you tell them they have done wrong and they just have a blank look on their faces like.  "What?"

Puppy Diarrhea - need some advice please

Hi everyone!  We have a 14 week old goldendoodle, Finnegan, who we adore!  He was wormed twice before we purchased him and we took him to the Vet 2 week's ago for a check up and his 3rd puppy shot. We took a fecal specimen which was negative, but they wanted to worm him again. They gave him his 3rd puppy shot - no reaction immediately, but he was really ouchy for 2 days at the site.  That was on Friday. I gave him the wormer on Sunday as instructed and by Sunday night he had thrown up all of…
