The last time I groomed Gizmo I thought I would take a picture of the hair that came off. Now, usually this would amount to about a handful. However, this time .... HOLY COW! I knew he had a couple little mats in his tail and by his neck, but I had no idea there was this much! It took me about an hour and a half to do this. Gizmo lay on the floor the entire time. He loved it! That was about a week ago and now he needs it again. YIKES!…Continue
All this time mom and dad have been telling me I was a Goldendoodle but after a recent trip to the county were the man lives that is making a camping trailer for dad and I to pull behind our motorcycle, I have come to the conclusion that they might just be mistaken. I made a new friend while dad was working on our trailer. I believe it was called a cow. We played all day and I ran and ran around and around the cow, and stop regularly for a nose to nose encounter. At the end of the day I…Continue
Hi everyone! I have a question on when it is the right time to groom your puppy. Finnegan is now 7 mos. old and while I LOVE his big bear look, with the rain and mud puddles, I am bathing him everytime I turn around because it gets into that thick fur and you can't brush it out even when dry. His fur underneath looks like it's wavy not really curly, so I'm not sure what he'll look like lol! How do you know how short to cut them?? I don't want him to look like a poodle, I want him to…Continue
My Mommy and Daddy do not own a cat, but there are a lot of stray cats in the neighborhood and they keep having puppy kittens. I don't like when they come in my yard. It's my yard.................For some reason we just don't get along. Maybe because they are wild. That's what Mommy says. Well, there's one gray cat that is constantly looking at me through the window and giving me a staring look and I don't like that. Makes me bark. But anyway, I did want you to see these two pictures…Continue
Ya know ... all this time I thought I was training Gizmo! Hahahahahahaha! My dog is so clever that he has both Terry & I trained.
When he comes in from outside, he skeedattles straight to Terry (who is usually sitting on the couch) to get his back rubbed. Of course Terry has learned all the right signals and as soon as Gizmo sits, he reaches down and rubs his back, then to his…Continue
Thank-you for all the welcome messages, I am not quite sure how to reply individually yet but I am sure I will work that out in time. My Doodle's name is Marley he is 6 months old and a very good boy! Its nice to be able to share my love of doodles with other doodle lovers!!!! :-)
Well, yesterday that white stuff started fallin' out of the sky again and some of 'em were bigger'n my nose almost! It sure gave me the Zoomies!
It was pretty late when it started though, so I didn't get to play in it. Then Mommy said I couldn't go out anymore 'cause there was rain freezin' and ice pellets on top of the white stuff in the yard. So I pouted, 'cause…Continue
Last night, a Goldendoodle, a Golden Retriever and a cat were chasing a mouse in the house! The mouse won, but only long enough to get caught in a trap. Hate doing that. This morning another mouse was in the kitchen sink licking peanut butter off the spoon we used to bait the trap. That one got a reprieve outside although he'll probably end up back in the house. Yikes!

Tomorrow, March 21, we hope you will join our special celebration. It is 1 year since Elliott had GDV surgery. We came so very close to losing him, just after his 2nd birthday. This condition ranks 2nd only to cancer in non-accidental causes of death in dogs. The only defence against it is education.
This experience became a journey for us. I can't describe the emotion that comes with talking about it. I know some of you have travelled this road, and I share the sadness for those…Continue
My doodle Daisy got her first haircut yesterday. It had gotten so long I couldn't keep up with the matting anymore. The groomer had to shave her real close, and I am heartbroken. I loved her shaggy look! He told me the reason she was matting so badly is that she was growing her adult coat over her baby hair. Has anyone ever heard of this, or was he giving me a line of bull?? He did leave her beautiful face longer and her tail, but her body just looks so naked and skinny.
Okay, here's a question for everyone. I have a snorting doodle. She does this mostly when she's playing and has a stuffed toy in her mouth or when she's rolling around messing the covers up on the bed, but it's REALLY loud! My husband can hear her all the way down the hall to the bedroom - first time she did it, he said "WHAT was THAT?" Sounds like a good-sized pig . . . . Lol! Does your doodle snort, or is Dulcie just a special little hog imitator?
Eli went to the vet today for shots. He was sweet and easy and the vet commented that he was much more laid back than Chesney. He charmed everyone in the waiting room and reception area and stepped on the scale to show that he gained 4 pounds! Sleeping now, when he wakes up I'll try to get a picture of this growing boy!
Well, when I took Finnegan in to be neutered I don't think they gave me back the right dog! Finn has been getting into everything and I believe they may have removed his brain instead! He has gotten really obnoxious. He's body checking his smaller big brother Duncan who is not enjoying the experience! Nothing is safe from him lately. Yesterday morning my husband got up early with Finn to let him out. After he got his coffee and gave Finn his treat, he went into the other room to get some…Continue
The vet assistant with whom I spoke wasn't very helpful and said there were no OTC painkillers I could give him but he is really sore and achy and whining accordingly as he lies down, gets up or even walking up and down the stairs. It's gotten progressively worse throughout the day. Can anyone advise on whether I can give him baby aspirin or tylenol (I've read that ibuprofen, advil are not recommended for dogs) to make him feel better?
