Well, it seems Gracie is destined to get all the terrible things she is vaccinated against getting. Vaccinated against Lyme Disease . . . Got it! Vaccinated against Bordetella . . . Got it! Had Gracie to the vet on Monday and while she is not positive that it not a throat irritation of some sort (injury from something swallowed, etc.), she is pretty sure it is kennel cough. Can't figure out where she got it from. We do go to obedience class, but none of the dogs there are exhibiting any…Continue
I have read several dog resources which point out the importance of walking your dog. I know Howie is young and to start with short walks, but he seems to hate "the walk". When walking away from the house he pulls back or sits down. Then when we turn around he strains to run back to the house. Has anyone had this type of experience with their pups. Any ideas on overcoming?
If you are a member of facebook, check out this comic strip about the writer's doodle. She is the sister of my childhood classmate. She's talented and funny. I think you'll like it.
Beau went to meet his vet today and get his second set of shots. All the poking and checking didn't bother him a bit. He's such a calm little boy...except when he's not. :)

Quincy went to the groomer to get rid of his matted hair. He now looks like crushed velvet and a bit foofy but it needed to be done. He'll have to get used to being naked for a bit.

We just joined the site so would love the feedback...We have our 7 month old lovey Goldendoodle Daisy.....I have had dogs my whole life but she takes the cake! a gentle soul, the easy puppy I have ever had, and we have a 1 1/2 year old puppy AND 4 young children, and she just has the most incredible disposition. So I have been contemplating on breeding her when she is 2. How do I go about finding a reputable Sire ? Ideally I'd like to keep her bred with another F1…Continue
Somehow Gizmo has developed an ear infection. When we got home from vacation (about 2 weeks ago), I noticed his ear was really dirty. We wanted to have him groomed, so I told the groomer that his ear was dirty and to be sure she cleaned it well. When we picked him up she told us that it looked really bad, not just dirty and he probably had an ear infection. We checked it when we got home and called the vet first thing the following morning.
The vet's assistant cleaned his…Continue
I know, I know: Doodles ARE funny. But still, they each have their individual quirks or crazy habits. Since we have Bailey, we've been listing her crazy quirks/habits. She's insane, we know, but such fun, too. Here's our list so far:
Bailey can't stand us talking on the phone to "invisible people"; she'll get very agitated, restless, starts whining and tilting her head.
Bailey gets nervous from "low" whistling. Normal whistles she responds to by coming towards you. When you do…Continue
Took Howie to the vet today for his second round of vaccines. The vet love doodles, so she was excited to see him and glad we got a new doodle. I had to laugh at the front desk girl because she was telling me how cute my puppy was and of course responded that she probably says that to all the puppies -- she said ours was exceptionally cute. :-) He weighed in at 12.0 pounds. All is well on check-up.
Hi everyone!!! Just joined your community. I recently lost my beloved dog and want a goldendoodle or labradoodle, can someone help me decide???Continue
I haven't had much chance to update all my doodle friends about Mowgli, we've been very busy!
Mowgli is growing into a very mellow, very loving Mama's boy! The weather has been un seasonably warm here, so, each night I have been trying to get Mowgli outside for a walk. I'm trying to teach him to walk beside me and not all over the sidewalk! I don't think it will take long for him to catch on. He is still coughing and strangling himself all the way, but, slowly he's…Continue
My dad leaves a chair in front of my grooming table so he doesn't have to lift me every time he wants to brush me. He calls me lard butt, I am not sure what that means but I know it has something to do with how much he loves me because he smiles every time he says it. I love my grooming table because it is in front of a window that over looks my back yard and when it is cold…Continue
I'm not aware of the situation in the US or anywhere else outside The Netherlands. But over here, the bias against Labradoodle and Goldendoodle owners is quite strong among owners of other dogs (breeds). The blanket statement is that all (yes, you read that right: ALL) doodle owners chose their dogs because they wanted to be exclusive, wanted to show off how much (as in moolah, hard cash) they spent on the purchase of their dog and because they feel superior (being able to spend so much…Continue
Right now we are having heavy thunderstorms and lightening. The type of weather my dogs have only felt once before. With the increase in pressure both dogs began to pace back and forth. "something unusual was taking place" and they wanted me to know it.. Dallas/Forth Worth could have a tornado tonight, but that was not the case a few hours ago. I wanted them to know what was happening was OK, so I set up the grooming equipment and took turns doing just that ... same storm is still…Continue
Probably more dog breeds do this, but because of their appearance, I guess coming from Goldendoodles these crazy sounds qualify more as "Chewbacca sounds". Bailey started making them about two months ago. That's when her vigilance started to kick in, I guess (a bit late, I know).
She'll hear something outside that's not to her liking and then give a bark or two, start pacing back and…Continue
Howie came home to Traverse City Michigan on 3/17/12. We picked him up from a family farm in Sheridan, MI, where Howie was one of a litter of 4 (the only male). His 3 sisters are still waiting for their forever homes. He turned 9 weeks yesterday. Pictures are posted on my page -- as noted by other owners of black doods here, they are hard to photograph.
Hi. I'm in love with golden doodles, but need a small dog so I'm looking for a mini. There are so many websites on the internet offering absolutely adorable dogs, but I've been warned a number of times about needing to check them out to be sure they're legitimate and not puppy mills. One way is to visit them, which is only feasible if they are relatively convenient to where we live (Washington DC). Two such sites that look engaging are Carriage House Cockapoos + Goldendoodles and…Continue
Hey everyone, please see Karin's blog. She needs help!

I haven't figured out yet how everything works here, so please bear with me :)
We're the proud and loving owners of an F1b Goldendoodle girl by the name of Bailey. She was born September 2, 2010 in The Netherlands. She's currently a little over 23.5 inches (from floor to shoulder) and weighs about 19 kilos, which is roughly 42 US pounds (European pounds are 500 grams, US pounds are 450 grams, so in Europe she is 38 pounds).
We hope to visit here…Continue
