My boyfriend and I posted an add on Kijiji to adopt a Goldendoodle for our 4 month old Golden Retriever. We got very lucky and got a reply from someone who didn't have time for their 10 month old male F1 Goldendoodle, Captain. The owner said that they have messaged a couple people and are going to each one to have meetings, so our turn came and Captain came over to meet our Phoebe. Right from the get go they were best friends. So they came for about an hour, we asked each other questions…Continue
Oliver is finally home! Oliver came home on Friday weighing in at a whopping 6.5lbs. He was very quiet on Friday and did not want to leave our sides or feet and did no want anything to do with Hailey (our miniature schnauzer)……..Today is Tuesday and our quiet puppy we thought we had, is not that at all! He now thinks he owns the place and everything in it is his! Including trying to get Hailey to play (which is not going to happen) he will keep trying. He is HILAROUS! To think we almost…Continue
I got one for you wonderful people.
I love love love!!! The idea that I get to trim my Doodle. I think it will be fun to play with different cuts tell I find one that fits Dexter.
So do you do it your self or do you take your Doodle to a groomer?
What do cut do you do for your Doodle?
Long or short?
I just trimmed Dexter's feet. He was sliding all over my hardwood floors he slipped and fell one to many times so I cut the hair way down.. Took about an hour…Continue
So Mommy says that I am a doctor! Yes! I think so, that is definitely the best way to describe what I do with my stuffed toys that I like to play with but if I think they are sick, I examine them and take downstairs and then upstairs and then shake a little to make sure they are responsive and then I finally open them up!... for Mommy to stitch back together and then I nurse them to get all better so I can play with them all over again. Sometimes Mommy stitches them up and I find something…Continue
Before my question . . . a little background so anyone with some thoughts can know what we are already doing. Gracie is 17 mos. and we have been in formal obedience class pretty much non-stop beginning at 3 1/2 months. She is impressive during training sessions; she learns new commands rapidly, and works very well off-lead, however . . . she remains a highly energetic pup and has a reputation for being a ball of energy and a bit of a clown. I have no doubts that she will mature and settle…Continue
Daryl had this strange dog with him the other day. He came out of apartment down the hall to the living room of the Mission with this very well mannered dog walking at his side. I can see the room from my office. So I just sat there and watched as he took her through some of her paces as ladies were walking around in the room. She never lost focus as he ask her to sit and stay and then dropped her leash and walked around her 3 or 4 times and then walked about 12 feet away from her,…Continue
Everyday in the mid afternoon, after Opie has completly run hiself ragged and tortured everyone in the house there is this moment that I get a glimpse of his true 'dog' self. The Opie that he is destined to become once we get thru his puppyhood. He is kind and affectionate - and he DOESNT consistantly mouth or catch little nibbles of my rear end when I try to stand up. He listens AMAZINGLY well and even 'reads my mind' in a way and predicts what I am going to ask of him next and he does…Continue
After noticing that both the "counter surfing" blog and Monica are gone, I sent a message to Lois I mistakenly thought that Lois was the moderator, but as it turns out, she was the right person to contact anyway. Lois said she didn't mind if I pasted her response into an open blog, so I have done so. I have to admit, I was feeling alarmed by what I was reading on that blog. Any who were following it know that. Posted words will never have the quality of a conversation, and the lack of tone…Continue
Although we still have a long way to go, it feels so good to be making progress with training and routines. My panic over Mowgli's eating habits is a thing of the past. Everyone morning when I get up for work, Mowgli gets up too. He goes outside while I'm brushing my teeth at the patio door (I've learned that if I leave him out too much longer, we recieve a new hole in the backyard and Mowgli will need a spray down!). Since my husband works nights and is usually asleep for a good portion…Continue
I know I am taking this idea from Margaret and Opie credit where credit is do this is due. I hope you don't mind!!! Made it all pretty!!!!
Dexter- Born November 23, 2011
-11-weeks 16lb (Came home Feb 11, 2012)
Ok so you guys where GREAT with your help with Dexter's weight lose so I thought I would give this question a go.
I have been looking into different dog foods, I try to feed a good food that will not cast me a arm and leg expectantly scene Dexter is a growing pup. However I do not mind spending money to feed something good (I hope that makes sense) I buy my food at a pet store not the grocery store. Well I have been feeding my Corgi Nutro Max and I have feed her that for the…Continue
I know this is going to be a long question so please stick with me. Because I want to answer questions I am sure will be asked to get to the bottom of this faster.
Ok so I am new here and new to Goldendoodles. I have always had smaller breed dogs, right now I also have a 5 year old female Corgi that I got at 6 weeks old. Her name is Odles. They are not quiet the best of friends yet but they are liking each other more and more.
So Dexter is 14 weeks old, a F1B…Continue
Well another interesting day with Dyna. Daryl took Dyna to their favorite place today (the Sportsman Warehouse). There was now one in the store so the cashier as Daryl to bring Dyna in so she could pet her. So Daryl put her in a shopping cart and took her in the store. She sat up in the cart and put her foot up to give the cashier high five. The cashier said oh she is so cute can she get out of the cart so I can play with her. So Daryl takes her out and sets her down on the floor and before…Continue
So now Gizmo is 6 months old and becoming a WONDERFUL pal & companion for both of us. He is learning new things so quickly. One thing is a new found interest in is the toilet. We have caught him slurping in both toilets a couple of times in the last week or so. We try to keep the lid down, but if he finds it up and doesn't have anything better to do (I guess), he slurps it up. Silly dog!
WHY do dogs do that? Uck!
Frankie is now 4 1/2 months old. He is amazing but very stubborn. We are working with him to keep him off the furniture, kitchen counters, desk, etc. He just keeps at it. He knows commands like sit, stay, shake, leave it, and down. He walks pretty good on the leash. He makes us laugh everyday and also makes us crazy! :) This dog could not be loved more...he brings such joy in our lives.…Continue
It has been full 3 weeks since we brought Opie home. He has grown SO much!! I wish I had measured his height on day one but I didnt. I do know he has gained significant weight going from 11lbs to nearly 17. He enjoys his training, playing and cuddle time. He is always ready to explore or find a new game. He is constantly learning new things and its just a joy to watch him. Yesterday I was in the back yard and we were working on recall and half way thru a plane flew low over the house…Continue

Hi All - I posted about our flea problem a few weeks back, but now I have a question along a different line. Has anyone used Vectra and found it to NOT work or had their pup scratch MORE after application? We are one week into our second application and I am noticing a pattern . . . About two weeks into the first application I called our vet because Gracie was still scratching crazily (which causes matting-ahhhh) and I was still picking live, seemingly healthy fleas off of her. I know it…Continue
Sunny keeps scratching at his ears and loves for me to rub them. I clean them and have put ear mite medicine in them. We have even had the hair trimmed/pulled out of them. He refuses to let me do it, so we have the groomer do it. Does anyone else have this issue... and if so, what do you do?
