A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers
Hi, my name is Pedro and I am a 4 year old Goldendoodle and I want to be friends with all the new pups that have joined this pawsome Goldendoodle community.
First let me tell you that I love you already because you make my Mommy happy with all the photos that your humans post of you and all the stories of your homecomings and getting settled and starting to train your humans. It is all very sweet and cute and makes Mommy happy which in turn, makes me happy. I think you already know…Continue
Bill Jo, you have to step back and RE-establish the down and stay... He is anticipating his next command. Add the leash, put him in a down and make sure he understands the down/stay.. Don't leave the room until he does stay 40/60 seconds.. Releasing him with lots and lots of praise.. No treat (your reaction is his reward) Repeat, repeat, repeat, For several days, lengthening your distance. Only then adding the come command, still in the room with him. (At this point, he…Continue
Before I create any bad habits I thought I would ask for more advice! Mowgli has been a tough eater since we got him. At first we thought it was because he was afraid of his bowl so we tried different things - giving him small handfuls to coax him into his bowl, dropping a treat in every once in awhile...etc. He DOES eat from his bowl when he wants to, but I think the biggest problem is getting him to focus. Our vet strongly recommends feeding him at specific times during the day so that…Continue
So, with all the rushing around this morning trying to get out the door with my 3 and 6 year olds. My youngest left a whole box of French Toast sticks on the counter.
How do I know that - when I went home for lunch Dunkin helped himself and ate ALL the french toast sticks, ugh. Should I be concerned?
P.S. I've also been noticing when I go home at lunch that eveything on the counter is on the floor. WTF! Cups, plates (if…
We're into our second week with Mowgli home and we're learning a lot about him- and us! After having one "bad night" where Mowgli was having numerous accidents in the house and being more aggressive and biting more than we'd like with nothing that seemed to work - Casey and I had to regroup a little. We realized that some of his accidents were actually, probably our fault. We were so thrilled at Mowgli's good potty habit when we first got him home that I think we started to give him more…Continue
Ok so as you all know Opie is home and we LOVE him. He is such a good boy. I am starting the long road of trainging a well behaved dog but he is absolutely NOT participating! He is a huge nipper (as puppies are) and I can rarely get him to focus on me. He is either too hyper to focus or too sleepy. I am getting alittle frustrated and I want to keep his little training sessions short and postive, ending it on a good note to boost his confidence. But I dont think he is even focused…Continue
So I hope I don't wear out my welcome, but I have another question. How are your doodles' appetites? Our last dog-child (lab mix) ate 1 cup of dry food 2x a day, and she was just a little smaller than Gracie. We are feeding Gracie about the same, but find she has a verrry light appetite. She often leaves part or all of her breakfast, or she will eat her breakfast and then not be so enthusiastic about dinner. Her weight is good. I meant to mention this to the vet at our last visit, but got…Continue
First .... how in the world do you train a Doodle to "drop it"? Gizmo grabs things and runs like crazy! Of course, I can't catch him and he thinks it's all fun and games. Sometimes the thing he grabs is a toy and that's ok .... on the other hand, sometimes he has something that he shouldn't .... my glove, papers, anything not edible.
In puppy class we learned "leave it" and "take it", which he does excellent with when it's about one of his toys or treats. He doesn't seem…Continue
Hello friends! I ment to make this blog post yesterday but the day swooshed by before I could. Opie is amazing. We love, love, love him. We know we made the best choice! When we went to pick him up we got to see his brother again and he was a great deal bigger then Opie. He also had curlier coat and longer ears. This sort of threw me because he had a few of the apperance qualities I had been looking for. But after spending time with both of them it was Opie that was bound to be…Continue
First, thank you all for being so welcoming. I've had a lot of fun ignoring a lot of chores as I've checked out the community and your fabulous doodles (but what else could a doodle be?). What led me to your community to begin with yesterday, was a search I had started in an effort to find doodle grooming tips. I've found a few grooming sites in the past and have learned a bit along the way (sometimes at Gracie's expense), but my focus at the moment is the doodle head. The last time I…Continue
Hi - This looks like a great group, but I'm not sure I belong here. I have an aussiedoodle. Are we welcome? :)
Since I was away from the house all day today, I decided to drop them off at my Vet/Groomer. I did not leave my photos of what I expected when I returned... I thought groomer and I had an understanding of what I continually wanted. Returning just before closing time at 7pm. I found: Izzi is to short and Charlie's natural white collar has been clipped.. I just collected both without saying anything... Why bother? The hair will grow back within a few months. …Continue
Wow. 22days ago I felt like today would never come! I can not believe its already pick up day. Everything is ready for him... just waiting. I am enjoying a warm cup of fresh coffee and I might even have a donut. My daughter is off to school and my son is quietly watching a toon. I know tomorrow will not be as quiet and restfull. I am hoping for a nights sleep even if its short. Tomorrow morning me and the kids will be waking up to Opie. The first morning of many happy ones to…Continue
MARGARET PICKS UP OPIE TODAY! SHE IS FINALLY BRINGING HER BABY HOME!
MARGARET I WISH YOU THE BEST!
Dyna took her maiden voyage on the motorcycle with her dad today. I thought he was nuts when he talk about putting on his Duel Sport maybe the Harley but not Duel Sport please. I have to admit I used words like nut, crazy and your going to die. This is a wild child you are making your riding buddy not to mention she is 62 lbs and only 9 months and a total klutz. It can't be done. Well they proved me wrong today…Continue
Well, I just returned from the hospital where I left Seamus...ANOTHER gastric obstruction, I can't believe it. He's out of surgery as of 8:00pm and the surgical tech informed me that he it was a plastic bag.
I have been so vigilant about keeping things out of their reach, but I'm feeling very defeated right now. I can't even think about the expense of all of this, again!
But what else is there to do? He's family...
Okay, I realize that I'm fairly new to this forum and I certainly don't want to be a traitor to this community because I'm eternally grateful for the opportunity to participate in a world driven by some Dood lovin'; however, I was slightly taken aback when I started researching the conditions surrounding becoming a "recommended breeder" for this website. I respect all of the requirements surrounding the actual back-end operations side of things, I also appreciate the strict adherence to the…Continue
Hi all! Our 4 month old Goldendoodle Izzy is extraordinary. We love her and are having a great time. I know doodles are apparently hypoallergenic dogs and some don't shed as much but it seems Izzy is shedding quite a bit. Can anyone recommend a certain kind of brush they have used that has been successful on their pup? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!Continue
It's amazing how much joy an animal can bring into your life. Mowgli has only been with us for about a week, and we already wonder how we ever went without him! Although he is still very shy sometimes (every once in awhile he gives us a "wait a minute, do I know you!?" looks) he seems to be learning quickly that this is home, and that we love him! There is nothing more fun that coming home from work to walk up to his crate and watch that little tail wag until we open the door and let him…Continue
