Any advice on jackets and booties for your doodles? Miles gets snow balls stuck all over him and between his paws..I am worried he might cut his paws when we are out ice fishing. Anyone have any experience with this?
Pemon's in the photo contest. Just a suggestion. LOL
Hi Aunties, Uncles and cousins - Pemon here. I would love if you voted for me because the prize is going to the rescue place that my big brother came from. He died from cancer just before Mommy and Daddy got me.
Just voted for Pedro in the photo contest and at the moment it's a tie! If you haven't voted, time's a wasting!!!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I hope your day was wonderful.
I have to apologize for being so lax in updating Gizmo's illness. We have been so busy with human dr. appointments and life in general.
So ..... we only have to take Gizmo to the vet every few months unless we see that he is going downhill. His bloodwork wasn't good when it was done last Friday, but the vet says there are other things that will affect it. As long as he is eating, drinking, peeing and his activity…Continue
Don't forget to vote before the end of the month. And Pemon is definitely going to be in next month's contest. I know I did it right this time.
Love ya all.Continue
Thanks for voting for my handsome face in the photo contest last month. I won $25 to Therapy Animals of Utah! Be sure to check out this month's contest. Our good buddy Pedro is in it but he sure got some cute competition!
Picco had a buildup of gunk in his ear that threatened to cause an infection. The vet reached in deep and pulled out a buildup of hair (ouch ouch) and recommended pulling back his ears so moisture won't build up. I tried tying back with a scrunchie but he shakes it out. I guess he isn't into the "man bun" look! Has anyone tried this and been successful?
Our first GREAT EVENT is that Quinn turned THREE on Sunday :) Since he's on a restricted diet at the moment, we couldn't do the traditional cake and nice-cream, so we went with a new big stuffy. In the last year or so, Quinn has transitioned from loving to eat his stuffies to loving to sleep with them. So this large stuffy bone turned out to be a well-appreciated birthday prezy. As you can see, he is testing all possibilities. I'm sure there will be more to come... LOL…Continue
There are several videos of Lord Bentley worth looking at. Check it out. Would love to see more videos.
Picking up our little doodle girl next week!!
Do any of you recommend formal obedience training? If so, when do you start? There are not many options in my area for training so I am wondering if clicker training or something similar is easily done on my own.
We are soon to be new doodle parents!! We love the classic doodle look. The breeder says all of them are calm and have great personalities so it just comes down to looks.Continue
My wife and I were in and out of Africa for nearly 7 years. We're finally settled back into a routine here in Huntington Beach, CA and ready to add a dood to our household. We're just starting to live on Retirement income, so we have a limited budget. Any help we can get would be greatly appreciated! Please contact me through this site to discuss!
I hesitated to post this, there has been so much sadness, but I am hoping this story has a happy ending.
Quinn just came home after spending 3 days in critical care (yes again). This time it is not his seizures. He was admitted due to protein loss and a platelet count of zero!! These are the results of a multitude of tests:
Normal kidney function and liver function;…Continue
Gizmo Update: Had bloodwork this morning. Not great, but not terrible. His BUN was 78.7 and his Creatinine was 6.2. On Sept. 18th (his first appointment) the BUN was 116.9 & Creatinine 5.9. So we are making progress. If he would drink more water his creatinine should come down more. He is playing like a puppy and interested in rides and people and other fun stuff. He gets tired very easily and eats when I can coax him to eat. He's been a real lover and a velcro dog. We don't…Continue
For seven yrs Izzi has been a healthy dog... but (there is always a but is there not?) Recently She was losing hair. small patch lead to larger patch... Vet ran blood tests and found she has developed an issue with her thyroid. Now 3 months later she has regrown/filled in the patches. The new growth is light brown. I think the genetics of the original cross breed has shown itself.. she's is an F1 Goldendoodle. Unlike many full blooded breeds that have known health issues, we…Continue
Hey Everyone, if you want to be in October's Contest you better enter now. I just entered Pemon. (I think)
Go for it! And please pray for Gizmo today that he makes out OK at the Vet.
Grace & Pemon The Gentle Giant
He was home from Friday to today (Tuesday). He did really well eating and drinking and peeing over the first two days. The vet had given us K/d wet canned food as well as the dry food. Friday & Saturday he couldn't wait for it to get into his bowl. He'd eat it all, drink a couple cups of water and ask to go outside. We thought "WOW, he's doing so well. Maybe he will come out of it ok".
Until Sunday .... he decided not to drink much and refused to eat AGAIN! I could get him…Continue
We were able to pick Gizmo up from the vet this afternoon. He is not out of the woods yet, but good enough to come home for now. We have to bring him back on Tuesday for another blood draw.
He's eating K/d (Hills brand) canned and dry food combined. He loves it! And he's drinking water out of his bowl. He did pull his IV out last night, but it's been in since Monday p.m., so he must be feeling better. No treats or anything else can be injested ... only his food.
