Too excited!!

Hello Fellow Doodle Lovers,I have a wonderful 9 month old female F1B.  She is well behaved and womderful except... she gets far too excited when encountering new people.  We are getting her jumping under control, but does anyone have any tips for this?  Is it just to get her to sit when told no matter what the situation is?Thanks for any pointers :)See More

Hi Karla,,, welcome..

My suggestion:  find someone who a few free minutes... walk to her or him no closer then 5 foot. tell her stay, an stop... she is not going to listen because she doesn't know the command.  Both you and friend stay there.  Move her back to your left foot, again and again, calmly do not yell at her.  When she calms down,, lots and lots of praise.  when she goes crazy again.  Bring her back to your right foot...  Take your time. she is learning three commands: the walk at your left foot, stay, and not to jump.    Do again later in the day..  And/or go to your drive way on a long lead... toss a ball within the length of the lead. She will learn to word fetch, come and reinforce the word no..  correcting the jumping crazy...  Don't toss the ball until she sits on command...  You can teach her the commands inside the house with a small training treat..   Don't scold her except for the command NO;   she is just doing what she knows from her littermates..
