Vet visit...

Have to take Cooper to the vet - his right eye has a white discharge. He was taking sticks out of the pile as my husband was trimming bushes, so he may have poked himself...it doesn't seem to bother him too much. ugh. :-( I've just been wiping around the eye with warm water...See More

Long road trip success

We just took Cooper on an 8 hour trip down to Ohio to visit our son and our two granddogs. Cooper was great during the long ride, unfortunately, during our stay, he continued to "hump" the younger dog (Both are neutered). He did this when they visited us, as well. We just can't break him of that. Any suggestions?See More

Cooper's Disastrous grooming! Poor Boy:-(

Grooming disaster and SUCCESS!

So, after the groomer shaved Cooper so severely that he was miserable(itching) -  my husband & I decided that we would give it a try ourselves. Turns out, Cooper was awesome! We felt SO bad for our boy when we picked him up - I almost cried. The groomer said he was matted - which I dispute because I was meticulous when I brushed him, always making sure I could get to skin. I think, since it was her last appointment before Christmas Eve, that she just wanted to get out early. Sorry, but…See More

So sorry I never saw your follow up comment! I'm not sure if all Lowes and Home Depot's allow dogs but the ones near us do. Lowes has a "welcome" sign at the entrance, and I called HD before taking the pups. I'm pretty sure all Tractor Supply stores are pet friendly. They all are very friendly and genuinely happy when I come in with my "kids"

The only stores I see dogs in by me art Petsmart and Petco. I was surprised the other day to see a small dog in a shopping cart at Home Depot. But nobody brings their dogs to the other stores you mentioned. I there a company policy to allow pups at all the other store?

Just read your comment about socialization. I'm a big fan of obedience classes. If you can find a good beginner class, I think you and Cooper would enjoy it. Also, going to stores that allow dogs is a great way to add some social time. I take our dogs to Tractor Supply, Lowes, Home Depot, and the pet stores. They are always a big hit, they love the attention, and it gives me a chance to work on manners :)

Thank you! He's @ 53 lbs. He is such a good boy and so smart! We are teaching him different games & activities and he loves his own fenced in backyard. Plus, he goes to bed with no problem, honestly, things are going very well. We do have to get him used to other dogs; he wasn't really socialized when he was with the other people.
I'm happy I found this community, perhaps I can get some tips on how to socialize him?? Thanks!!
