10 Canine Commandments

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 10:18am 3 Comments

1.  My life is likely to last 10-15 years.  Any separations from you will be painful to me.  Remember that before you buy me.

2.  Give me time to understand what you want from me...

3.  Place your trust in me.  It's crucial to my well-being.

4.  Don't be angry with me for, and don't lock me up as punishment.  You have your work, your entertainment, and your friends.  I only have you.

5.  Talk to me sometimes.  Even if I don't understand your words, I understand…

Hi Jill!  Thank you so much for your email/comments/advice!  We of course picked out our little girl "Charlie" last weekend at the breeders home. When we saw all the puppies, all their coats were pretty similar in person.
They are F1 but daddy (poodle) is not really too curly, more fluffy and wavy. All the pups had a very mild wave but were super fluffy and thick coats. We picked our girl obviously by personality first, but we had our eye
On a specific girl from the breeders pictures online because of her coat color. Anyway she ended up being our favorite anyway with the sweetest personality!  We have a high strung yorkie so we knew we wanted a more
mellow dog this time around, she was so sweet! She cuddled right up in my neck when I picked her up and held her. She is 5 weeks now, I pick her up June 10th to come home. I will try to post a pic of her. Her coat is so
pretty; not really wavy but fluffy and a beautiful color of reddish-brown, I think they call it copper? I'm not sure but she is just great! I'm just a little worried about too much shedding since she is pretty straight but I'm hoping
as she loses her puppy coat it might come in wavier. She looks just like your Denver, except darker :) Thanks again!

Hi Jill,

Wes is a young man who has started working part-time as their office manager.  He's been taking photos for their website and is handling their advertising.  Wes responds to inquiries with some litter information and the Burkhart's phone number, so people still speak to and work with Lovina.

Take care,

Thanks Jill. She has just had a bath and a groom, and is tucking into her tea now - she looks adorable. I have a had five dogs in my lifetime, from Red Setter to Old English Sheepdog and Yorkshire Terrier, and Ruby's personality and good nature is far surpassing all my others so far! We are taking her to a local 'Day for Dogs' tomorow, so my husband and I will have fun guessing how many different breeds are suggested to us, and my poor 7 year old daughter (Ruby's official owner) will busy herself correcting everyone!

Thanks Jill, strangely enough we have noticed quite a difference in the past hour!!! She has been having great fun running under water sprinklers in the garden (very warm here today!) and has suddenly developed a very wavy coat when wet! The thing is that Ruby has the most sweet nature and is such fun - although very lazy (she doesn't want to go for a walk of any distance!). I will update pics of her when hopefully she fills out - I am getting fed up with people in the street asking me if she is a labrador!

Thanks Jill. We love her to pieces already, she is such a sweet natured puppy! She has already changed in the month we have had her, her ears are now fluffy and she is developing a wavy more coarse darker line of hair along her spine. I am just impatient, I rush downstairs every morning to see how she has grown in the night! Sha was one of a litter of 14, and is subsequently quite small. I will post a pic once I have mastered the technology!
