how much should Louie eat?

Posted on July 22, 2011 at 11:14am 5 Comments

So, when I first took Louie to the vet she told me two cups of science diet, twice a day.  I have noticed that his stools are not solid.  it is not diarrhea, but when i go to clean up the yard to mow it is still soft after laying there for a week?  His stool sample last time was normal and he has been on science diet since i got him at 6 months old.  His stools have never been solid, could i be feeding him too much??? Some days he won't eat in the morning just at night or vice versa, but…

Doodle Training

Ok-so i've been trying to work with louie and it's not going so well.  He thinks everything is a game...i go to get his lease ( and he looooves being outside) but as soon as i get the lease he takes off running and plays dead.  He won't budge once i have him ready to go.  Also he doesn't like treats so i haven't been able to get him to sit, lay down, come, or anything on command because he couldn't care less about getting a treat.  Basically he is just really stubborn! Any good advice??? I…

Only Child

So, Louie is my only child.  I take him to play a lot with my friends' dogs.  He is in love with other dogs.  I feel like for a few days after his play dates he is depressed without his I just making this up???? :)  I was just wondering how many of you went out and got your doodle a companion? And if you did get another dog, did you get another doodle? I can't imagine getting anything but a doodle now!

I am getting my dog Louie groomed for the very first time (he is 8months) tomorrow and i'm really nervous.  I love his long fluffy hair, but I'm thinking the summer will be way too hot for him.  Does everyone typically groom short for the summer??? Also, I just got him two months ago and he loves being brushed, but there were already mats in his hair so he has to be shaved!!! I'm so sad.  What kind of brush is good to use for these dogs? I am going to start over with his hair and keep him…

Hi Jamey...just visited your page and checked out your photos.  WONDERFUL pictures !!  I especially love the "during" mud play, the "after" in the bath tub, and the nap time with the green hat on.  SO typically dood !  I see your summer haircut is REALLY mine, its almost like a new dog.  Someone said in one of the blogs how nice it would be if they just stayed in the "mid-range" haircut all the time.  My Ginger had her summer haircut about a month ago and is growing out again.  Nice, but I love the winter full grown look.  We live in Austin, TX, so we need the summer cut.

Keep the pictures coming...they are great !

My doddle is on 6 months, live in Dallas area and have no intention of shaving her ever.   I have a rubber brush (can't remeber where I purchased)  in appearance it looks like the wire brush you would use on an outside grill.   MY bursh is all one molding, rubber brussels to handle.   I also purchased a water tank at the local feed store some time ago to use a sand box for children.  Makes a great doodle tub now.
