A Community of Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Lovers

I went a little crazy at Petco the other day, preparing for little Maple to come to her new home (a week from now). My fiance says that I'm going to spoil her too much, haha. I'd also like to get a grooming kit (contains shampoo, conditioner, dematting spray and brushes) for when Maple gets a little older. I'm also considering getting her a Smart Pet Love Snuggle Puppy to help her sleep at night - it can be heated and has the option of playing a realistic sounding heartbeat. I've also got a play pen for her and some Merrick chicken and sweet potato puppy food. I'm not sure if I'm missing anything else. Let me know if you guys can think of anything that I should get for her. Thanks!

I'm glad you went for the toothpaste instead of those dental chews.  I've known dogs to get sick from them.  I'm all natural with Picco's foods and treats.  Doodles tend to have sensitive stomachs.

Hello! Thanks for that awesome checklist! I was looking for a list like that about a week ago, but I couldn't find anything as thorough. We'll be making one last stop tomorrow to get a few things before we bring little Maple home!
Pet insurance definitely sounds like a good idea, I'm glad you brought that one up. I will look into it!
Not sure if I should be resting now or drinking lots of coffee then, haha. Maybe a combination of both. :-)
Thanks again for the list! Very helpful!

Looks like you've got a great start on getting ready for Maple!

There is a list at: that you can use as a checklist.  Add to that list - look into pet health insurance.  (I don't have any recommendations for insurance).

Get plenty of rest, the first week can be exhausting, but fun ;)

Haha, I will definitely tell him that! The whole grooming and bathing bonding time really appeals to me. I've been watching tons of grooming videos on YouTube the last few months so I can learn myself. I think it would be great to be able to groom her myself. I have to say that I definitely won't need to worry about little Maple not being touched enough! I can't wait until she's mature enough to sleep with me at night -especially here in the cold, Minnesota winters! Thanks for the tip about being cautious with the bows!

You look like you have it covered but tell your fiance that Doodles never get spoiled! :-)   My way of bonding with my Picco was to bath (water only most of the time) and grooming.  If you want to try in the future, I (and others on this site) do my own grooming.  I think it's fun and sooo much cheaper.  Touching them all over as pups is necessary too so they get used to it.   Watch the bows, they can be delicious to pups!
